Wrassling with Dr. BigMac
If you’re a fan of wrestling, then like me the last 24 hours have been filled with internet truth, people with blue check marks confirming the news and rumors that are out, and if true will shake the wrestling landscape forever.
Yesterday I posted about how CM punk who hasn’t wrestled since 2014 after leaving WWE and suing them to go in to a terrible UFC career and an acting career that had movies going straight to DVD, is now in talks with AEW to sign on as a wrestler. Just wow, if you listened to our Sunday Social top 10 wrestlers you would know that my number 1 was CM Punk, the best in the world. Punk has all the boxes checked when it comes to being a pro wrestler now a days, he can wrestle, he can talk on the mic, and he has charisma what a signing this would be for AEW.
Today, the wrestling rumors are going wild again. Bryan Danielson fka Daniel Bryan is said to be signed by All Elite Wrestling. After having a roller coaster ride in WWE. From being pushed a side cause he didn’t have the wrestlers body that Vince craves to being not taken serious enough and put in a comedy tag team with Kane to wrestling twice at WrestleMania 30 and winning the title. Though he has an injury its said he wanted to have a lighter schedule but get paid the same amount he has been getting paid and also being able to work dates in Japan. At AEW he can do all that so this seems like a logical signing for both parties. If this is true WWE is now in the rear view mirror. Those two names alone register with teens and older demographic and all the casual fans will be throwing it on TNT on Wednesday.
Lets talk about a few dream opponents for both Bryan Danielson and CM Punk. Lets just get the obvious one out of the way, Kenny Omega. The biggest name in wrestling is Kenny, he holds multiple titles from multiple organizations and he is the modern day Ric Flair. He puts on 5 star matches with anyone that steps in side with him. Both of these guys have to have Kenny circled for potential matches.
Next up would be Adam Hangman Page. Pure talent that like Kenny can put on a show with anyone that steps inside the ring with him. I feel this would be a great matchup for Bryan as they both have a similar style. For CM Punk I would go with Cody Rhodes, back in 2014 Cody wasn’t the established wrestler he is today. The storylines they could have with CM Punks failed MMA career and Cody being Dusty’s son. Great entertainment.
The other two that I think would be great for both would be Andrade el Idolo and Malakai Black. Both former NXT stars with failed resumes on the main roster they could help show the real potential both these guys have and make them go straight to the top of the company.
I am excited for this if it truly happens, while AEW is making these sort of signings WWE is wheeling out Goldberg for Summer Slam… you see why one will succeed and the other one is doomed.
