Why are we dragging this man through the mud?

After yesterday’s trade deadline passed yesterday Chaim Bloom’s name was dragged through the mud. A lot of fans were upset how he didn’t go out and make a splash, and how this isn’t Tampa Bay this is Boston spend money win now. I totally disagree with this whole notion. Chaim Bloom did what he had to do. He went out addressed needs without screwing up the future of this organization. Is this team a championship team? For 2021 I don’t think so but with the right pieces and the cap leverage you’ll have he is building a juggernaut for the future.

Dave Dombrowski blew up the farm system for a title in 2018. He also put this team in a financial figurer four leglock. No where to go, no more moves to make since you had one of the worst farm systems in the league. You had to trade away one of the best players in the game in Mookie Betts, a pitcher that played a role in the World Series championship in David Price and you weren’t able to go out and spend like you used to because Dombrowski crippled this team. You bring in Chaim Bloom for the work he did in Tampa, Bringing an organization to a World Series with a very limited payroll and the way he could eye talent that wouldn’t break the bank. Last year was a pass for every team due to Covid and a lot of players checked out. When the season started the three of us thought this team would be god awful at best a .500 squad. At the time of this blog, Red Sox are in 1st place with a 63-42 record.

Your rivals in the AL East went out and got players but did they get better? Would you want to sell off your farm system that Chaim has gone out and made stronger for rental pieces to go and make a run and fail due to what the NL teams went out and did? Or would you rather compete make some small moves and be able to compete again and plug and play and compete in 2021. The Giants, Yankees and Blue Jays will be back to shit next year and sold off top prospects to try and win now. Let Chaim do his thing, don’t get upset for what he didn’t do but be happy he didn’t go out and sell the future.
