Last night while trying to fall a sleep I had this thought. Take each young superstar from each major Boston team and you can only keep one. The rest walk and you get nothing in return for them.

The players are Jayson Tatum, Charlie McAvoy, Xander Bogaerts, and Mac Jones, these are your choices.

Here at Simple Minds Sports we shit all over Jayson for being only a “budding” superstar, his Dukie attitude, and how he hasn’t fully taken over that role of being a leader on this team. That being said he is still only 23 years old. Most of the greats didn’t win a championship on their own until at least 27 years old which would bring Tatum right up to the end of that extension he just got. Could Tatum be the guy to bring banner 18 to Boston? Does he have enough pull throughout the league to build a super team in a city that is not a destination favorite?

Charlie McAvoy finally got the torch passed to him after Chara left this past season to play in Washington. McAvoy is the best defender and top 5 player on this Boston Bruins team right now and that is saying something. With Bergeron, Marchand, Pasta, and Hall the kid definitely has talent. Another 23 year old Boston player if he can have a career similar to Chara he should be hoisting several Stanley Cups.

The Red Sox silent assassin Xander Bogaerts. He lets his play do the talking and I feel like if he was a mouth piece like some other Sox players from the past this kid would be a very big marketable player.

For a town that is so hard on its players, this is one you never hear a peep about and I think that is the way a superstar should be. Never having any negative clout. At 28 Xander is leading the team in average .344, hits 42 and at bats. Hard to say no for keeping this kid.

Ahhhhh yes, Mac Jones. The Patriots pick was the hardest for me. I wanted someone young that you could build around. There are some guys on the defense but they weren’t really the stars I was looking for. Mac Jones however fits that mold just right.

After having a hell of a college career at Alabama he slipped in the draft after San Francisco 49ers passed on him with the #3 pick. Mac now has a chance to fill those empty shoes that were left when Brady took his talents to Tampa Bay. He has the best coach to ever do it in the NFL to help him become one of the best quarterbacks taken in his draft class. At 22 years old Mac has a chance to bring back the winning ways in New England.

So who would you take and who would you let walk?
