What Does A Successful Offseason Look Like?
So many holes. That’s what the New England Patriots have going into this offseason and with the “legal” tampering period starting today many fans have different opinions on what a successful offseason looks like.
To begin, there is only 2 players on this team that are solid players. The first being the franchise quarterback, Drake Maye.
The second one is the lockdown corner, Christian Gonzalez.
That’s it, everyone else is expendable and don’t make a clear impact going forward for this team. I’m sure some of you that wear your Patriots footie pajamas to bed will spew out some non sense about some player who had potential and I will respond with, “nope”.
With that being said, I also don’t want to wait till the draft and have to hit home runs with the first 3 rounds. You should be able to go in there and be able to trade back from 4th overall and get more picks in the first 3 rounds and take the best available where ever you fall to. At 4, you would have 3 options, a LT, a DT, or a WR. So at 12:01 pm today the Patriots need to lockup a LT, DT, and a WR. That will be a successful start to the offseason. You got to pay the suck tax like Rich has been saying. You are no longer the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick Patriots, you are like the Jags or Browns. You will overpay for these positions but these are premium positions that will elevate you over time.
