Patriots need to nut up
The latest out of Foxboro? None of the available wide receivers quite fit what the Patriots are looking for. A real Goldilocks situation—for arguably the most pathetic franchise in the NFL right now. They weren’t in on Deebo because he’s fat, Godwin too many injuries, Kupp too old, Metcalf doesn’t run good enough routes, Tee Higgins is too expensive.
Never mind that beggars can’t be choosers. The Patriots fucking blow. You haven’t had a reliable receiver since Julian Edelman—or Jacoby Myers, who you let walk for pocket change.
But this isn’t just about missing out on talent. It’s about doing your damn job, Eliot Wolf. Free agency and the draft aren’t about what a player is—they’re about what they can be. Every player has flaws. Your job is to evaluate how their strengths fit into your system. Newsflash: your roster sucks. Almost any available receiver is an upgrade, so spare me the hand-wringing over Chris Godwin’s injury history.
Randy Moss was a "washed-up, overpaid bum" in 2006. In 2007, he broke the single-season touchdown record and helped take the Patriots to 18-1. That didn’t happen by accident.
So do us all a favor, Eliot. Nut up. Have some professional hubris. Identify your guy, go get him, and make it work. No more excuses in Foxboro.
The brutal truth? This isn't a rebuilding strategy. It's a public performance of organizational grief, a tragicomic ballet of misplaced hopes and shattered expectations. Aka they are still acting cheap.
The Patriots' wide receiver ineptitude threatens to continue under Mike Vrable because the true problem at Gillette becomes clearer every off season. Kraft. Wolf is only here to amplify said problem.
