I hate sports
A lot of people are calling this Bruins loss the biggest or one of the biggest failures in Boston sports history. That is certainly hard to argue, but the word I would use to describe it is Embarrassing. Try to remember what the expectations were in October. Marchand, Gryleck, McCavoy all hurt coming into the season. Krejci coming back from over season, Bergron on his last legs, Skidmark in goal. We hoped they would tread water and a 2nd round exit would be a nice run. For this team to go on and set the record for greatest regular season of all time was nothing but a predictable “Ally” for the inevitable “Oop” that is the Bruins choking in the playoffs.
We can finger point up and down the line up. Everyone deserves blame. Let the second guessing begin. It was a complete failure from the players, but to say that I’m shocked by this out come I’d be lying. It’s certainly an early exit, but again fairly predictable if not for the record setting regular season. There fore I will choose to define last night as truly fucking Embarrassing. Put it up there with 2007 Patriots, 2003 Red Sox, 2010 Celtics. Missed opportunities and under achievement. Which while we’re at it. That’s how you can define the entire Patrice Bergeron Bruins Era.
Bergeron is an all time Boston Athlete, but good god would his resume look better with another cup. Three time Presidents Trophy recipient (zero cups in those years) 2013 loss game 6, 2019 loss game seven, 2023 loss FIRST ROUND game 7! How many opportunities do you want? Sure, he was playing with a herniated disk at 38 years old. That’s not easy. He was also a -6 in his 3 games this series. He’s cashed. Love ya bubs, but hang em up. Maybe it was the Bruins stink he couldn’t quite shake. At least he didn’t high tail it out of here and come parade his Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup through town like some other “respected” Boston Bruin.
