The doughboys 5 ways to fix WWE
If you’re any sort of a wrestling fan you know that last night was the WWE’s first big event of the new year, one of the original big 4 shows the Royal Rumble. The Royal Rumble had some of the biggest buzz around it in a very long time. For the women’s rumble it was announced that Impact wrestling champ Mickie James would be competing, other promotions have been involved in years past but this was the first time a competitor such as Impact wrestling was mentioned let alone involved in a big show. With that being announced and the forbidden door being opened (the forbidden door is a wrestling term, one that promotions don’t acknowledge other promotions and make fans pretend that their promotion is the only one around, yes dumb) fans thought for the mens rumble that Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, Moose, or even Jon Moxley could be involved, but that was a big fat no and instead we got Johnny Knoxville, yes that Johnny Knoxville from Jackass fame and Bad Bunny, from what Ive gathered a rapper that I have never heard of. With being one of the worst Royal Rumble ever I am. here to lend a hand on fixing the product at hand.
I have watched wrestling since I was 3, 34 years of watching the product I think I have some great ideas and will give you 5 to roll with.
My first thing is you have 3 brands, Raw, Smackdown, and NXT keep those rosters separate and stop having guys cross over. For the title fights you had Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins. Roman on Smackdown and Seth on Raw. Build a program with superstars on their own rosters. Smackdown has plenty of guys that could have taken Seth’s spot from Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Sheamus, and Shinsuke Nakamura. You have built Roman as a guy who can’t be beat and burring your own talent in the process, dumb!
My 2nd thing, no more part timers. The return of Ronda Rousey and winning the women’s rumble and Brock Lesnar winning the mens you now have two part timers headlining Wrestlemania. You complain that no one is grabbing the brass ring but its impossible to grab if you are paying these two to come in and wrestle a part time schedule, come and go as they please. Everyone is leaving for other promotions because they aren’t getting that main event push and when they go to these promotions they are stars. EC3, Matt Cardona, Adam Cole are just a few that I can name off. Quit bringing Brock, Ronda, and Goldberg back and build up guys like Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Shinsuke!
3rd, Vince McMahon needs a better inner circle, what I mean by that is since the internet era things are leaked and there is no real surprise in wrestling anymore. Imagine if we didn’t know about Mickie James being involved in the womens Rumble, the pop she would have had or Ronda Rousey coming back how big of a pop would she have had. Everyone knew Brock was going to lose to Bobby Lashley and that he would be in the Rumble and win it to set up the Roman Reigns-Brock Lesnar Mania main event. I want more surprises less leaks. Vince McMahon needs more trust worthy associates to bring back that wow factor.
4th, bring it back to the early days and only have 4 big pay per view events. AEW is doing it and I love it. Back in the day there were only 4 big shows with the Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summer Slam and Survivor Series. Stop shoving down Extreme Rules, Money in the Back, Elimination Chamber. If you had only 4 you would have a longer time to establish story lines and you could do what AEW does and have a Money in the Bank during Raw or Smack Down or an elimination chamber at Survivor Series. It’s just too many shows where we know what ever happens in the next couple months we know no belts will be changed it will all stay the same. It’s pointless, and if Vince is having a problem financially then stop with these other shows.
5th, look around the wrestling landscape, listen to the fans. You have these guys on the roster right now that could be something if you gave them the John Cena treatment. You also have people that fans are getting tired of. If you’re trimming the fat and trying to save money why not establish a relationship with another promotion like Impact or Ring of Honor and have guys that you can send down or one of their guys come over. What AEW did with NJPW and Impact having those relationship was must watch tv because you didn’t know who or what was going to happen.
