The Celtics need help
You may think I’m out of bounds after they whoopin’ they put on the 76ers to open the season. But, three things.
#1. The 76ers are trash.
#2. 117 points given up is a direct result of lack of front court depth.
#3. This is a Championship or bust season.
Once Horford had to sit down with some phantom fouls the Celtics brought in Noah Vonleh. The 27 year old journey man from Haverhill, MA looked lost out there lets be honest. Sure, Vondleh industries gave them 20 hard fought minutes, but if Embid had one once of sack in him he could have went for 50 in the post.
The latest report on Robert Williams, Lord of Time is he will not be back until the “second half of the season”
Although this has already been refuted by the ever trust worthy source of injury information, Celtics management.
Either way the Celtics are short on height for the immediate future, they can’t really rely on Robert Williams to be an anchor, Horford is almost as old as me, Blake Griffin is washed, and Vonleh Industries is as good of an option as Costanza himself is as an employee.
The rest of the team looked fantastic on Tuesday. Tatum and Brown look ready to eviscerate the NBA. That will certainly win you enough games to be right there in the thick of it, but how hard will they have to work? It’s a long season. I’d love to see Tatum and Brown playing in the 2 and 3 positions to save the legs and bruising. Right now the Celtics don’t have a “big” line up. Any way you want to slice it, Tatum is slotting in at the 4. Unless you count Grant Williams as a big. I get in this day and age the NBA is more fluent with their positions, but it doesn’t change if Tatum is the 2nd biggest guy on the court for the C’s he mostly likely has to guard the second biggest guy on the other team. How sustainable is that when it comes to winning a championship. They are almost as shallow as they were last year with depth just at a different position. We saw how that turned out when you needed it in the Finals.
Galinari and Time Lord going down really could have a major impact on the long term viability of this team’s success if trader Brad can not address the front court depth. Sooner rather than later. Here’s a name.. Aaron Banes. Give the Aussie a comeback story.
P.S. Package Time Lord and Derrick White’s money to bring back something legitimate in the offseason. Try to sell high on a good playoff run from Time Lord and get out from under this walking hospital bag.
P.P.S. Embid’s a bitch
