Thank god for the Jets: Patriots recap

If not for the Jets the Patriots season would be lost. THIRTEEN straight wins over the that fuckbagery of an organization, The J.E.T.S Jets, Jets, Jets. They suck. However, I don’t know how much better the Patriots are.

Look, wins are just hard to come by for this team and they have been since Brady left. It seems disjointed down at Patriots place specifically on offense. But, lets not forget about the Monday EmBEARassment the defense put on display last week. Let kick it off with some key observations from the offense:

  • The offensive line sucked.

No David Andrews always hurts. He is the leader of that offense. He is responsible for a lot of the protection calls. Specifically the 1st half he was clearly missed

Cole Strange had his worst game as a rookie. Two holding penalties. He got blown up all day by Quinten Williams. Eventually he was benched for…. Isaiah Wynn. Woof

Trent Brown clearly had his head in the clouds or an Arby’s menu? Penalties don’t get you fed big boy

  • Mac Jones continues to leave us with question marks

The biggest play of his day was one that didn’t count. The pick six called back is getting all the noise. It looks horrible, but it’s a communication error. It’s an option route for Myers. Mac and him read the defense differently. Who was wrong? I don’t know ask the coach. But, it wasn’t Mac just chucking and ducking. Well, maybe a little.

With all that being said. Mac is the guy moving forward. There were more good throws than bad. He’s making plays with his legs. He needs to regain confidence and Mr. Low Floor will start to elevate the ceiling even if just a little. It should be enough for a playoff birth.

  • The walking nut sack found some Rhythm

Out of the half Patricia got the offense in a faster pace. Spread the receivers out and actually had some rhythm to the play calling.

  • They looked to steady the protection with a spread look in shot gun giving Mac a clearer vision of the field. In theory allowing him to make quicker reads

  • Rhamondre “Ramadama Ding dong” is the MVP of this offense. The 40 yard run on that 3rd quarter drive? It feels like he is due for one of those a game. He’s the closest thing the Pats have had to a bell cow since Corey Dillan. He can handle all three downs with his power, vision, quick feet, and soft hands in the passing game. Damien Harris is a compliment to this player now. Not a partner in the backfield

  • No Parker for the game after the first play (He’s okay. Just a knee sprain) Agholor has disappeared more the zero he already was. Bourne- checked out. Thorton is a rookie. The tight ends seem to jog through their routes directly into coverage. Outside of Myers these pass catchers are leaving a lot on the table

  • Myers should be considered a top slot corner in the NFL. Another 9 catches and a TD. Constancy and tenacity.

  • 6 points off of Turnovers for this offense. THIRTEEN negative plays.

The Defense had me a little worried at times still. Lets take a couple shots at the squad that only gave up 17 points and 51 yards rushing

  • There were a couple 3rd down conversations from the Jets that have us tearing out hair out weekly.

  • The 54 yard scramble play on busted coverage.

  • Tyler Conklin was making mince meat out of the safeties covering him. And don’t give me the Kyle Dugger excuse. He’s great, but leaves a lot to be desired in coverage.

  • It shouldn’t have been 17 points. The last scoring drive by the Jets was way too easy. It wasn’t garbage time either. That made it a one score game. Step on their throats!

    Okay, some good stuff?

  • You learned your lesson on containment? Judon and Wise continued to apply constant pressure, but in a controlled fashion.

  • Run defense shaped up. Although the Jets were complicit in this with play calling and no Breece Hall

  • McCourty pads the stats better than anyone. Two of the easiest Interceptions we will see all year coming on two of the worst throws we will see all year topped by the horrible decision to even make the throws.

  • Zack Wilson sucks. There is no coaching or bashing that kind suck out of that mother fucking mormon cuck

  • Outside of the Chicago game the defense has shown an ability to keep teams within respectable striking distance for a competent offense at the very least. That’s all you can ask for in today’s NFL. Never mind pitching shut outs.

Some more good:

  • Nick Folk is a golden god

  • Wouldn’t you know it, Jake Bailey got Spooked by a little competition. How funny.

  • Bill Belichick became the 2nd winningest coach in the 103 years of the NFL

At 4-4 the Patriots are on the outside looking in of the Playoff race. With the AFC as wide open and underachieving as it is they have as good a chance at making it into the post season as any other team not named the Raiders. (The offensive boost from McDaniels coming back as a consultant in week 10 should help.)

With out a significant improvement from the offense this team is going no where even if they find themselves in the playoffs. There is just too much disjointed pays and playcalling for any consistancy right now. And what else should we expect?

Do people forget Mac Jones is in his 2nd season? Take a look around the NFL or the history of the NFL and 2nd year QBs. This is a process people. And on top of that you stick him with Joe “The QB destroyer” Judge as his coach and Skinny Ray, the bane of Detroit, Matt Patricia to be the brain child of an offense he nor the team has ever ran? Yup. There are going to be some bumps along the way.

The schedule remains soft for the next 3 weeks including a really important bye week. We have to hope Belichick can whip this bag of nepotism into shape enough to lose to the Bills by less than 40.
