The Celtics looked like the same old Celtics, but it’s early
I’m not sure what I was expecting to see in the 1st game of the pre season, but as soon as I saw the Jays go 1 on 1 and Marcus Smart jack up a long 3 with 11 seconds left on the shot clock I was disappointed.
In the post game Ime addressed the early turn overs and blame them on being too unselfish so I guess there’s that. I loved the intensity which they played with. That is certainly better. I like that the bench is not a D2 men’s league team. It was nice seeing two legit NBA units. I think the roster can be super versatile and the defense is sure to be better than last season. I guess I just want to see the ball movement on offense we were promised. Jaylen and Jayson can’t be the only guys to score every game and for my own sanity they can’t try to do it 1 on 1. The team shot 38% from the field. At half time the Jays had 32 of their 50 points. They need to figure out how to play offense as a team or it’s going to be a long grinding season.
I gotta tell you, I loved seeing Al Horford in green again. He was always judged harshly in Boston because of the contract, but he was such a huge piece to their success prior to Kyrie neutering Danny Ainge.
Marcus Smart had a terrible game. And if I have to listen to Scal and Gorman lobby for his Captaincy I’m going to cut my ears off. His replacement is on the team already. Dennis Schroeder looked like the perfect PG for this team out there. He understands how to be a play maker, he’s a pest defensively, the hustle, creativity, he’s going to be fun to watch.
Romeo Langford with the game winner off of a broken play. Good for him. He still looks like an end of the bench guy. No one else really stood out to me. Just fix the offense.
