Mac Jones is the story

The Patriots fell short, again. A 56 yard clunk left Patriots fans with something to be desired in the Patriots vs. Bucs Sunday Night 19 - 17 Bucs win. The game, the spectacle, the drama. There is so much to un pack here. Be sure to tune into our FAT Tuesday Weekend Round up for all the Patriots - Brady talk.

This is about our young stud Mac Jones. The numbers from Sunday are impressive. 31/40 275 yards 2 TDs 1 Int. 77.5 % completion. His toughness was even more impressive. This kid is getting crushed week in and week out. Play after play. He continues to get up with those dead eyes to call the next play. His poise is most impressive. This was the most highly anticipated regular season football game, ever. The ratings challenged and beat some Super Bowls. Mac was squaring off against the closest thing to an actual living legend. Coming home to play under the 6 championship banners he won and in front of the 66,000 fans who loved him and cheered for him for 20 freaking years. The moment can not be over stated. In game Tom broke the ALL TIME passing record. And the rookie out played him.

With out a running game to speak of and an offensive line breaking like a New Orleans levy, Jones stood in and picked the defense apart up and down the field for the likes of 19 straight completions with 2 TD’s at one point. A number that tied Brady and set a 30 year old rookie record.

Look, I think a lot of fans are going over board with the Mac Jones in the big picture right now. He still has a ways to go. He’s 1 - 3 and hasn’t come up with some plays they need to win in crunch time. We all believe that will come as it’s only his fourth game in the NFL. This season will continue to be a grind but there is plenty to be excited about and optimistic about for the future.

Make no mistake, as Brady collected his records and wins and praise the story coming out of this game is the Patriots have a QB for the future. Tom Brady is now firmly in the past.
