The BBWAA is in a league of their own

On Tuesday the announcement came, David Ortiz was the only player elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. First ballot non the less, huge accomplishment, but was it the right choice? In the 90’s to early 2000’s everyone and their mother was doing steroids in sports, especially baseball. Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, and the list goes on and on. So why is the BBWAA voting some players in that openly cheated and not others.

I’ve had a problem with the BBWAA for quite some time now. It is basically a nerd fraternity that gets to hand pick who is a hall of fame and who isn’t. If a player was mean to certain writers during their playing days they won’t vote for him to get in which is the biggest bunch of crap. The hall of fame should be judge on your playing career not if you were nice to someone or not. Thats why Bonds and Clemens haven’t gotten the nod yet. Its because a few writers didn’t like how they were treated forget that Barry Bonds is the MLB home run king at 762, forget that Roger Clemens holds the record for most Cy Young awards with 7, forget that Sammy Sosa is at 9 with 609 career home runs and still not in the hall of fame.

It is the biggest joke in all of sports. Lets put it this way its like keeping Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, and Peyton Manning out of their respected halls. Who cares if they were assholes, who cares if they were injecting themselves with steroids or HGH, let’s just do the eye test, were they the best at what they did? Then put them in the god damn hall of fame!

White Birch Brewing is a hall of fame beer and there is no denying it. Head down to the brewery and try a flight, they have sours, IPA’s, stouts, and my favorite the triple IPA, Something A Lot More Interesting.
