Pump the brakes on Drake Maye

I am the homer of the show but even I’m not dumb enough to say that Drake Maye should be the QB1 to start the season. In 2 preseason games he is 8/14 with 66 yards (8.2 yard average) 1 sack and 1 rush touchdown. In what universe does that equal out to being the guy. I’m not hating on Drake nor am I saying at what point he shouldn’t be. I just feel that everyone is rushing because we can’t stand to see another 4 win (it will be less than that this year) season.

Let us not forget the last time we thought we had the next guy and rushed him in. We don’t want Drake to be another Mac Jones 2.0. Let us all just R-E-L-A-X and let Drake get acclimated to the pro system and give him a year on the bench. Even the greatest of all time sat a year (I know he wasn’t drafted 3rd overall and that’s your only argument).

The other reason I don’t want Maye to start is because of this boob didn’t address the O-Line issue and will probably get Drake killed or scrambling for his life this season. Another reason he should red shirt this whole season even if Brissett gets injured throw Milton in there to run around and keep our franchise project safe until we draft a stud LT with our 1st round selection next year.

This isn’t a sprint Patriots fans, this is a marathon. We will be bad for a couple of years but with the right drafting and everyone’s stock going up yearly, New England will be good again. Just not in 2024.
