Wanna see a dead body?
This could be our last chance to really stick a fork in the corpse that is Chaim Bloom. What an absolute joke of an evaluator of talent and roster construction. This automaton literally sees the world through the Matrix, but instead being the revolutionary success of Matrix 1 and 2 he’s easily sub par whatever dog shit that fourth installment was supposed to be.
Eovaldi hurled six scoreless innings to set the Rangers up to forge a late-game rally and shut out the D-backs, 5-0, to win the 2023 World Series on Wednesday night. He became the first pitcher to earn five wins as a starter in a single postseason. SOURCE
Nathan Eovaldi wouldn’t have saved the Red Sox season, but he honestly may have been able to save Bloom’s job. The Sox were able to simply avoid the another last place finish there is very good reason to believe Bloom would be back next year. Imagine Eovaldi bolstering the front end of the staff instead of that Shouting Tooth pick Chris Sale or the even Bello as he navigated through his rookie campaign? Or god forbid try to create a “good” rotation. One not stacked with the “maybes” and “what ifs” of the world. Kutter Crawford, Tanner Houk; fucking up Whitlock. But, sure 2 years for $34 million for Eovaldi. No value there.
What did Bloom in again was the deadline. With Eovaldi in the fold this team would have been on firm ground to have a proper deadline and buy, buy, buy. At the time they were chasing Toronto for the top wild card spot for christ sake. Instead Chaim floundered again and immediately lost the club house.
Again, Eovaldi wouldn’t have lead this team to a world series. You need to spend money to do that. Ya know, like the Rangers. Congrats to them BTW. One of the longest championship drought in professional sports history. Here’s looking at you Detroit Lions. No, what Eovaldi is is a microcosim for Bloom philosophy and tenure with Boston. In short - suck decision after suck decision based on spread sheets.
