Business decisions and Irreputable Damage

The Patriots have past the mark of shitty team and entered into full on dysfunction and mutiny. After the new rock bottom of 2023 that was the loss to the Washington Commanders we learned JC Jackson and Jack Jones were benched to start the game. The reason being they were late for Saturday night curfew. One can only assume their charity events held them and there was traffic on the way home. Still, rules are rules. Following this benching and embarrassment on the field Jack Jones “liked” this tweet:

Who would have thought that silly old gun charge would come back as refuge for the one time heralded “Future Hall of Famer”?

These two embattled CBs will be staying state side this week as the team travels to Germany to take on the Colts. Joining them will be starting Left Tackle, Trent Brown.

I want to say Belichick is gripping his ideology and team chemistry with white knuckles, but honestly it doesn’t feel like it. It seems like he can read the writing on the wall like everybody else. The end is coming. But, it’s only 1/2 way through the season. Eight more weeks of this kind of environment invites the climate for irreputable damage. Generally, the ownership steps in and shit cans the coach in this stop in hopes of a spark and potential forward momentum heading into next year. Despite what Ben Volin believes that’s not happening in New England. Belichick will get to finish out the year even if that means they fail to win another game.

What are the consequences though? You’re breeding the idea of complacency and losing with a team that has quit on the season. There are those that will continue to show up in the name of professionalism, but even Professor Professionalism, Matt Slater admits it is going to be extremely challenging. This team has already done irreversible damage to the quarterback with that Matt Patricia stunt. You’re now at risk of letting that doubt and lack of trust seep into the foundation of the team. Bill Belichick has been all of what the Patriots consist of from the team construction for 20+ years. You don’t just move on from him with out causing waves.

Moving on from Bill is like moving the coach in your living room that has been in the same spot for 20 years. It’s going to be a little messy under there. If you kept a good house though, it shouldn’t be too bad. A quick Swiffer and you’ve got a fresh new space to operate. If you’re house is full of malcontents, moth balls, kids candy, and CB’s openly mutinying it’s gunna be a fucking disaster to move that coach. The carpet is so badly stained the floor underneath needs to be replaced. That shit takes money and time.

How much time will it take for the Patriots to spend enough money to dig themselves out of this dirty couch situation their sitting on right now?
