Jerod Mayo Fired
Today is the day. The New England Patriots play their last game of the 2024 NFL season. A season that has been filled with disappointment, regression, and finger pointing from coaches. At 4:05, when the game ends Robert Kraft should be in the locker room waiting for Jerod Mayo to say thank you for what you did this year, taking over for a legend in Bill Belichick, but clearly we put you into this situation and you just are not ready for it, best of luck on your future, YOU’RE FIRED!
When I scroll through social media and see all the post protecting Mayo with “It was his first year, what did you expect?” Well, I expected a team to win less than 5 games but have the building blocks in place to show that yes, this is year 1 but year 2 we are on to building something. Can you honestly look at this team and say they are building something for year 2? No, they are not. If you say yes i would love to hear an explanation on that. Last year you had Zappe and Mac, terrible quarterbacks but they combined for 4 wins. This year, you have Drake Maye who looks like he could be a franchise guy but does make some boneheaded mistakes, can Mayo and AVP fix this? Absolutely not.
This is not just a hit piece on Jerod Mayo, its the whole coaching staff, and GM. No one should be safe from this disaster season. Eliot Wolf is not his Hall of Fame GM father. He had a terrible draft.
1 (3): QB Drake Maye, North Carolina- Had to take Drake Maye, zero credit here.
2 (37): WR Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington- Sucks
3 (68): OT Caedan Wallace, Penn State - played 5 games
4 (103): G Layden Robinson, Texas A&M -Bright spot on the offensive line
4 (110): WR Javon Baker, UCF played in 10 games ZERO receptions
6 (180): CB Marcellas Dial, South Carolina - played in all 16 games just another guy
6 (193): QB Joe Milton III, Tennessee - should be playing most of the game today
7 (231): TE Jaheim Bell, Florida State
The guys Wolf should have drafted instead of who they got is not a good list either. Instead of drafting the “best hands in the league” Ja’Lynn Polk they could have drafted Ladd McConkey.
Ja'Lynn Polk vs. Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey WR - LAC Ja'Lynn Polk WR - NE
Targets 104 33
Yards 1,054 87
Yds/Rec 13.7 7.3
TD’s 7 2
That is just one example of how bad of a draft Wolf had and then what did he do in free agency? Maybe he is better at identifying NFL players. NOPE!
KJ Osborn and Antonio Gibson were his 2 guys that he brought in that weren’t on the team last year. KJ Osborn has since been released while Gibson has shown that he can be a number 2 running back on this team. Great signings, Wolf.
For the coaching staff there is no one worth saving and deserving of a second year. Everyone needs to be let go after this game so you can start interviewing candidates. Yes, Robert, you need to go through the process this year and not just have a heart to heart with someone on a trip to Israel. You need to go through the process. The Patriots motto going in to the 2025 offseason should be- “Rebuild from the Rebuild”
