A Celtics - Kevin Garnett reunion makes too much sense not to do it
I just finished reading an Athletic piece with a bunch of stories about KG and all the cool shit he did as a player. Which prompted me to this thought. A thought that a lot of people have thrown out there in one way or another and I’m finally jumping on board 100%. The Celtics NEED The Big Ticket.
The 2021 Celtics will go down as one of the biggest under achieving teams in recent history. It wasn’t because of talent. Their bench sucked, but they had plenty of high end talent to compete. And spare me the injury excuses. The reason the Celtics failed is because of lack of Cajones. Right not, most people want Brad’s head on a spike for that. “He didn’t motivate his players.” Fuck outta here with that. You are a god damn professional and you’re supposed to be one of the best athletes in the world. That generally comes with a decent level of pride and compete. I have to believe the Jays have a level of compete that is untapped. Well, if KG can’t pull it out of their lifeless - running through the motion bodies who can?
I mean think about it. The best stretch of ball Tatum played this year was after Perk called him out on Twitter for being a lifeless - running through the motions slug. You don’t think Kevin Garnett can amplify that?! KG is one of the most respected guys across the league. And guess what?! He fucking loves The Celtics.
I don’t know what his role should be. I know it shouldn’t be head coach. Not just because I don’t believe Brad is the problem, but ummm he’s never been a coach. That is a thankless grind of a job, man. I don’t think it suits KG in any capacity. He wanted to buy the Timberwolves. They were a bunch of assholes. Let him make a bid for a minority stake. Then give him whatever title you want. “Special assistant to the GM” “Head of Basketball trash talking” “Minister of BadAss Motherfuckery” Whatever. I just want that guy’s juice around my guys. That came out wrong, but you get it.
