Is MJF WWE Bound?

AEW’s biggest pay per view, Double or Nothing was held on Sunday in Las Vegas and the terrible product wasn’t the biggest story from the event. During the weekend AEW put on a meet and greet with their wrestlers. But one wrestler was no where to be seen. MJF reportedly no showed the event and rumor had it was on a plane out of Vegas back to the east coast. It has come out as of late that Maxwell and upper management don’t see eye to eye. He has been coming out to the media saying when his contract is up and will go to the highest bidder and doesn’t have allegiance with AEW just for making him a star. So the question was on Sunday, would he show?

Well, early into the show our questions were answered.

MJF was met with boo’s and asshole chants, being the biggest heel in the business that’s nothing new but the look on his face said it all. He didn’t want to be at Double or Nothing nor do I think he wants to be in AEW anymore. He is sick and tired of the ex WWE stars coming in to the business he helped build with The Elite and the original wrestlers of the company and taking his spot.

A match with Wardlow that has been building for the past 3 years finally was going to conclude at Double or Nothing after weeks of high profile segments on Dynamite. You would think this would be one of the last matches of the evening given the circumstances but it wasn’t and the way the match was laid out and finished, it looked like a message from upper management was sent and MJF has been written off tv.

After the show went off the air, new AEW world champ CM Punk and AEW owner Tony Khan had a press conference with the media and the MJF situation was brought up.

No comment…. So, with that said what’s next? Maxwell’s a free agent on January 1st, 2024 but does Tony let him walk sooner? AEW is banking on the summer of Punk but I think they are in for the summer of Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
