Dysfunction is a disease not easily eradicated
Want to be a front row witness to a real life slippery slope? Become a Patriots fan in 2023. If Robert Kraft is not careful he may allow his franchise to slip into a dysfunctional diagnosis, the likes of which are not easily escaped.
You have Bill Belichick heading your entire football operation treating it like his own dip cup. Spitting his nasty chew of horrendous personal and coaching decisions into the pot of spoiled saliva that is the New England Patriots as to date.
This is of course a unique case of dysfunction because at the heart of it is not incompetence as is normally the case. No, at the root of this dysfunction is spite. Petty, petulant, spite. Belichick has seen the writing on the wall that this team will not responds to him. He was forced to draft a bratty diaper wearing QB who has the leadership aptitude of dyeing quail. He was forced to fire his buddy Patricia all because he orchestrated the worst offense the NFL has seen in 25 years. His inability to draft, scout, or develop WRs is at it’s absolute peak. He understands the situation. So, instead of honestly trying to right the ship and inevitably fail in the process, he chose violence. Passive agressive violence.
“Oh, Robert Mac Jones is the future of the franchise? I guess I better keep trotting him out there has he continues to triop over his own feet and have mental break downs on the bench. And what’s the point of bringing in a veteran to back him up? He can just call Alabama if he needs help. Who am I kidding, he won’t need help he knows everything. The little prick.” - Belichick probably/definitely
Call it spite, call it arrogance. Whatever. The point is the team and organization are in the hands of a very dangerous man right now. A man who’s professional morality was shot dead in the wake of Spy Gate (If he ever had any to begin with). It has always been Bill’s way or no way. Right now Bill’s way is a rapid dismantling of the building bocks and foundation that has been laid over the past 20+ years. If you hack away at a foundation long enough eventually you find your way sliding down that slippery slope.
