Celtics hit a speed bump
It’s still early in the 2023-2024 season and the Celtics are 12-4 and the best team in the NBA. As we have talked about, it’s Banner 18 or bust for this team. Wyc Grousbeck has spent well over the luxury tax to bring another championship back to the city of Boston and while hiccups can happen, why is happening to this team against lesser teams?
Ya I know the Magic are in 2nd place in the East and are on a 6 game winning streak but its still the Magic, they don’t have a roster that has 4 top scoring options or a 38 year old coming off the bench trying to win a championship so he can go back to the Dominican and relax on a beach. The Hornets like the Magic aren’t suppose to be a team that beats the Celtics, especially in overtime. With all the talent could there be one underlining problem with this team….yes.
Here lies the problem for the Celtics. It’s Joe Mazzulla and his philosophy of living and dying by the 3 point line. Some would say we are dumb for this and don’t know basketball.
Everyone has their opinions and I am here to listen to them all but I don’t think this team can win with Joe Mazzulla as the head coach of this team. I hope i’m wrong and he does it this year but we can’t get in to a 3 point battle with teams and depend on shooting 40 percent behind the line. I thought for sure when the "heart and soul” of the team (that no one is missing after seeing what he is doing in Memphis, like we said) was shipped out it would be smooth sailing but i was wrong. This team still needs to grow and the real NBA season doesn’t start till Christmas. By then I would like to see the 3 attempts to be outside the top 10 and more driving to the bucket. Jayson Tatum has worked his ass off this offseason on his post up game which we haven’t seen much of yet. Give me a game where he scores 16 from the post, lets just see something other than iso basketball and screen for a contested 3 point shot. Joe, just show us something that we didn’t see all of last year. Show us that you have grown and not just listening to those analytical nerds.
