Another GOAT calling it a career

During the, “Money in the Bank” PLV, John Cena made a surprise appearance. It wasn’t to promote a movie or Peacemaker, instead he shocked everyone when he announced at WrestleMania he will wrestle his last match.

Cena is on a 20 plus run, but has been doing the part time gig for a number of years now since he is trying to go “Hollywood”. He took the reins during the PG era being a 16 time world champion and loved by kids but hated by adult males. Cena has beaten them all, so I’m interested to see how this final tour goes. Usually when you retire you go out on your back, a passing of the torch moment so who would benefit the most with pinning Cena at the grandest stage of them all?

Bron Breaker

Imagine the push that young Bron would go on. You can tell he is in the beginning stages of a big title push with the Intercontinental title, presumably he will win the title at Summer Slam. He may hold on to it all the way up to Wrestle Mania and have him battle Cena in a banger of a match would begin the year of Bron Breaker.

Cody Rhodes

How many tickets could Cena vs Rhodes sell? A butt load. Talk about passing the torch, Cody is the biggest baby face in all of wrestling right now, something Cena was for a majority of his career. If this truly is the last match John Cena will ever wrestle, then let it be with someone like Cody. The setup for it would be like Hogan vs Warrior at Wrestle Mania 6.

The American Nightmare (this version of Cody) hasn’t fought John Cena and would be a fresh new program where if you give these two a story board could make something great.

The Rock “the final boss”

Have we seen this? Yes, but I would watch only because it would be the final chapter. The Rock has also called the “Final Boss” character the greatest villain in WWE history (his words not mine). The Rock and Cena program on Netflix with no censors….. banger. Two guys that legit hated one another could sell out either night 1 or night 2 by themselves. Will this happen most likely not since Reigns vs the Rock will happen at mania this year.

Uncle Howdy

The build up for this could be that Cena was the last guest of the Firefly Fun House. Now that all the characters have come alive from the Firefly Fun house the match at Mania could be a tribute to Bray along with Cena’s last match.

Showing footage of Bray, (Uncle Howdy’s real brother) who could be in the hall of fame next year, could be a big weekend for the Rotundo family. Howdy beating Cena would be a career defining moment and could make Howdy that phenomenon that WWE has been missing since Undertaker retiring and Bray Wyatt passing away. Two birds one stone, this too could main event night one of Mania.

Who ever it is, it’s going to be a major push and stamp of approval for the GOAT. I may not like him but you got to respect what John Cena did in his long storied career.
