The Time Lord is not Kevin McHale

Freaking Celtics Fans. Robert Williams has had a stretch of nice play for the Celtics. In his last 10 games he has averaged 18.9 min, 8.9 pts, 7 rebs, and 2 blocks. Pretty decent. He had 1 double - double in that stretch. More importantly he brought a level of energy to the court that this team desperately needed. In this 10 game stretch he has provided some high light dunks and an acumen for a nice offensive game around the rim. Due to all of this he has landed on Green Teamer’s “untouchable” list.

Robert Williams failed to play 10 consecutive games in his 3 seasons in the NBA up until this point. The chances of him becoming the next Clint Capella are just as likely he stubs a toe and slips a disk. You fans want to tell me he has Bam Adebayo potential? After 10 games?! Fuck outta here with that. You won’t include Time Lord in a package for Harrison Barnes because he is the young Center you need? Since when? Have you watched the NBA since Steph started winning chips from the logo? As good as Adebayo is how did he look against the Lakers in last year’s championship? These guys are not the key players in championship runs.

I’m not saying that saying Robert Williams sucks or provides no value. The energetic high flying guys certainly have a role in the NBA. It’s just not the Kevin McHale role. If you are in the camp that the Celtics can not move on from Robert Williams you are a bonafide knucklehead.

Kevin McHale is often called the greatest low post player in NBA History. During his time with the Boston Celtics he influenced a generation big men. Here's ...
