Jayson Tatum and the Duke Stench
The NBA trade rumors are heating up and one team in particular is ready to have a fire sale. New Orleans Pelicans are not playing like they thought they would after the trade sending Anthony Davis to the Lakers for the return of Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart. Sounds like everyone is available except for Zion and the rumor is JJ Redick could be heading to either Philadelphia, Brooklyn or Boston. JJ is a journeyman around the league and one hell of a shooter. At first glance I would love the idea of JJ coming to the Celtics and being a great shooter off of the bench, but then I got thinking, is this too much Duke stench on one team?
Duke is a basketball team that you either love or you hate. There is no in between with this team and I fall in the category of absolutely hating this team and culture. Duke has been a power house ever since Coach K established himself as a good coach ( good not great since he gets all the best prep players in the country cause he sold his soul to the devil). Coach K has been the biggest heal in all of sports since the 90’s with his recruitment of insufferable douche bags he has brought to main stream College Basketball. Some of the most noteworthy douchebags in no particular order, Kyrie Irving, yes Rich’s most hated sports athlete/person alive and maybe the craziness that Kyrie brings into this world was taught to him by Duke University. The world is flat, tell me what Government means to you, and Thanksgiving isn’t a holiday (fuck you it isn’t).
My next example is Grayson Allen. How has this person not gotten the shit kicked out of him on the court yet? How could you not hate this kid? From his punchable face to his dirty play tripping players and bitching about every call. He is even doing this shit in the NBA which I am shocked it hasn’t turned into a fight. For all the shit he ever did during his playing days at Duke Coach K only sat him for 1 game.
There is countless other examples from Christian Laettner, JJ Redick, Steve Wojciechowski, Shane Battier, and Mike Dunleavy this list could go on for ever. As a Celtics fan I already cringe at some of the antics that Jayson Tatum does with complaining about not getting certain calls to his body language in his last game against the Lakers walking up the court with a chance to win the game. I don’t think I could handle another person on Celtics with these same teachings from Duke. That is why I am a big no to the JJ Redick trade. Yes he would help out with shooting but he would hurt the inner core of this team with that Duke stench he would bring.
