Yup, still dead inside
For just a second, there was an inkling, a tingling in my dingaling during that Chiefs game. Perhaps we would get some watchable football from the Patriots down the stretch here. Then the 4th round kicker missed another chip shot after the Kansas City Zebras showed up. Next thing I knew Zappe is giving his best Mac Jones impression with a horrendous interception and the best response I can muster is, hmf. I have no emotional attachment to this team other than sadness and regret in how Belichick and Kraft botched the end of the Dynasty. Life as a Patriots fan in 2023 is like a strung out hooker, sorry sex professional. Sadness and regret. With a lingering unsettling fear of what comes next.
It didn’t even meet the standards of the oh so often snooze fests from earlier this year. There was plenty to get pissed about. The refs gifting the Chiefs an early Christmas not least amongst them. The 15 yard face mask mentioned earlier on Demario Douglas was just bullshit. That was a 1st and 10 play for 12 yards down to the Chiefs 12 yard line. It backed the Pats up to the 27. There is 0.0% chance this Patriots offense can make up a 15 yard penalty at any point of any game on any part of the field. The shitbirds got a bonus out of it when the nutsack rookie kicker hooked it to Swampscott.
There were a number of bad calls. The NFL refs really seem to be getting worse. I think there is a direct correlation to pro sports aligning with the gambling sites, but that’s a bitchfest for another day. The other egregious call that makes this meme relevant:
was the defensive holding on the rookie Alex Austin. This negated a fumble recovery by Jabril Peppers in a 14-10 ball game where the Chiefs went on to extend their lead to 17-10.
Just ridiculous. But again, my reaction: “Dumb”. No swearing. No throwing of projectiles or cracking of fresh sad beers. Just, “dumb”.
It wouldn’t be the post Brady Patriots with out dumb ass mistakes and penalties of their own. Did we mention the Chad Ryland miss? How about the Baily Mac Zappe interception?
The best play of the day was called back because, well because Belichick refused to address the most glaring hole on his offense, Tackle, but I digress. On this play Connor McDermott managed to hold one player and decapitate another nullifying Hunter Henry’s second TD of the day.
The rest of the day was a whole lot of nothing. Just what my dead heart needed. Belichick seemed content keeping the game with in 10 points to save face in the chronicles of historic football scores I guess.
Look, I guess I just take my ques from the big guy. If Bill Belichick doesn’t give a fart about this team, neither do I.
