Palmieri has been linked to the Bruins for 2 seasons now. We know why. Because the Bruins secondary and 5v5 scoring is as useless as tits on a bull or dicks on something that doesn’t need dicks. Speaking of two dicks, did you know Snakes and lizards have not just one, but two penises, called hemipenes. Simple Minds.
Personally I have not been shouting for another patch work job at the deadline with a veteran winger on an expiring deal. I personally would like to see them flip the roster if you would with a deal centering around DeBrusk and/or Krejci. You have more then a handful of guys underachieving at best here and expiring deals on veterans. See if you can ship some of your shit out for someone else’s shit and get a spark. I understand that’s a lot to ask for I guess so fine lets focus on the bandaid. Here’s the deal the Islanders swung.
If you’re on team Bandaid you have to be pissed the Bruins were not in on this. The 1st rounder is a heavy price, but what choice do you have. If Bandaid is the solution than a 1st is the price. And the slugs that got thrown in? AJ Greer has 6 pts in 37 career games 24 years old and Mason Jobst? Well, ESPN has no stats for the 27 year old Mason Jobst. Pretty sure Sweeney could have wrangled up a few stiffs to toss into the deal.
If you want to go serious rose color glasses on this miss, we know what Palmieri brings to the table. We have been monitoring his stats for two seasons. But, Travis Zajac isn’t a bum. He has averaged 45 pts a season in his 13 year career. Yes, he’s 35 years old but has dumped in 18 pts in 7 games this season. More importantly on this Bruins team he slots nicely in as a 3rd center giving Cassidy flexibility with Coyle on Krejci’s wing which we have seen work well in the past.
Again, I save the right to sling this headline out there immediately if Sweeney pulls in a deal similar to this before Monday, but my brain refuses to work rationally at trade deadlines. So for now he’s a son of a bitch.
