What is in your QuWAY?
Last night as Richard and I recorded our Sunday Social his words spoke to me. Firstly that I pronounced Que wrong. Is it not pronounced Qu-Way? News top me. Secondly, do I really have shitty taste in movies? We came up with an idea to cover our favorite Kevin Costner movies in honor of Bill and I could only come up with 4, Rich came up with 16. The movies he listed I have never seen before or saw it once and wasn’t memorable enough for me to even remember. Starting today I am on a 10 day quarantine vacation so I may check some of those movies off my list that he mentioned, but let me ask people reading this. Do I have bad taste in movies? Lets examine.
One of my all time favorite movies that I could watch over and over and recite every word of it for you is the Goonies. Is that cause it brings me back to my childhood where I didn’t have a worry in the world? Possibly, but the adventures of Mikey, Data, Mouth and Chunk going on a treasure hunt so they can find gold and their parents wouldn’t have to move out of the Goon Docks gets me every time (seriously want to take a trip to Astoria, Oregon and see that damn house).
One of my other all time favorite movies is American Gangster. Listen you put Denzel in any movie and 9 times out of 10 I will watch it. Now you’re telling me its based on actual people and involves drugs, and mob like events. YUP! Hook, line, and sinker. The story of Frank Lucas coming up being an assistant and turning into one of the biggest drug lords of New York, great movie. Great story. I could watch that every week.
My third is a sports movie that gets laughed at all the time, He Got Game. I get it Ray Allen doesn’t put on the greatest acting performance of all time but he does his best. Denzel does it again playing Jake Shuttlesworth a man that kills Jesus Shuttlesworth’s mother after being drunk and pushing her and she hits her head on the counter and dies. The movie is all about Jesus being the number 1 recruit and where he will go play college ball. Low and behold the warden at the prison Jake is at wants his son to go to a certain college and lets Jake out for a week to convince him to go play at his school. Sports, Drugs, money and Denzel another classic in my book.
