Time to shake it up

The Bruins lost to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday in game 7 and the offseason begins with a lot of questions. The talk from local stations that if the Bruins lost this series Don Sweeney will be let go, but will that be just just the first domino?

Will we have a new captain for the start of the 2022-2023 season. The way it looked at the end of the Carolina game it could be, Patrice Bergeron hugged all his teammates as they came off the ice, his press conference didn’t help the speculation either. Saying that the loss is too fresh and needs time to think about his future. If the front office is blown up, Bruce Cassidy let go and a fire sale to come for the Bruins, then I don’t see Patrice wanting to come back to play for a rebuild even on a team friendly deal. But will he be the only star player gone?

If its a true rebuild you try to get young and get rid of some veteran players like Brad Marchand. Don’t get me wrong, I love Brad Marchand he is my favorite Bruin, a huge pest on the ice and gets in peoples head, I would miss him but it would make sense to trade i’m to a contender to get younger.

It’s been a great run since we beat Vancouver for the cup back in 2010-2011 but after losing to the Black Hawks and Blues we haven’t been able to do it again with this core. A whole different group for next year and some dark days are ahead for the Bruins. Hopefully the turnover pays off in the next 3-5 years but we can all agree that this group just can’t get it done.

If you want to time travel to the next time the Bruins are good again, I highly suggest heading down to White Birch Brewing in Nashua NH and get Something a Little More Interesting a NEIPA that goes down smooth and before you know it you are at your kids little league game.
