This Draft Stinks

In Bill we trust was something we have been saying for decades here in New England, but after this past draft I don’t think I can trust him anymore. Read the room Bill, we are no longer the dominate team anymore in the division, we are second fiddle to Buffalo now. A team that set up with a QB that can pick you apart with his arm and he can also scramble to pick up yards with his legs. Did we address a need to slow down Josh Allen? Nope! So we must have done something to stop Diggs, the Bills best WR, Nope! We let JC Jackson walk and then picked up Malcolm Butler from retirement and drafted two CB’s Marcus Jones and Jack Jones, WHO?

The one takeaway from this draft is taking Cole Strange at 29.

The 3rd ranked Guard in the draft we took a huge gamble and taking him at 29. The Rams press conference sums it up best with this.

I am all for protecting our franchise QB but to take a guard, let alone the 3rd best guard in the first round!? My approach would have been taken the best Left Tackle available at 21 or let alone 29. Move Isaiah Wynn to Guard, his more natural position and run that line. That would have been the correct approach to take in the 1st round if you were addressing the line. D- for the 1st round.

The Queen is not happy with the 2nd round pick either. For 2 weeks we have been talking what to do and what not to do. The Queen doesn’t trust Belichick to draft a WR, he did it in round 2, not an SEC guy but a guy from Baylor Tyquan Thornton. He is super fast, ran a 4.28 40 yard dash at the combine.

That’s cool but can he go over the middle in the NFL and catch the ball? I would have rather picked someone who has incredible hands and is known going over the middle and catching the ball than picking the fasted kid alive. He had a great senior year but let us see how the 6’2 180 lbs receiver does in the NFL. C- for the 2nd round pick.

The 3rd and 4th round selections I was happy seeing Marcus and Jack Jones, both corners that we needed to address and I wanted them to pick up.

Marcus Jones is from University of Houston. Great punt and kickoff returner who we could see be the guy come day 1. He is also a great slot corner that could be a day 1 starter at that position.

Jack Jones is from Arizona State University. If you were filling out your Patriots bingo board, you can dot the guy with off the field problems on your sheet. He excels at press man who “can compete” on the outside.

The next 3 selections are all F-. RB, QB, and RB!? WHY! Lets look at our Quarterback room, Mac Jones, Brian Hoyer, and Jarrett Stidham. Why are we drafting a QB in the 4th god damn round.

Bailey Zappe Western Kentucky University, wasted draft pick

If that wasn’t a head scratcher this surly was, they spent another 4th and 6th round selections on Running Backs when we already had Damien Harris, Devine Ozigbo, Rhamondre Stevenson, JJ Taylor, and James White. That’s 5 we all ready had but lets add 2 more to a position we didn’t need to add too. Pierre Strong out of South Dakota State (real running back power house….nope) and Kevin Harris out of South Carolina, the stats on these two are who gives a shit and we didn’t need either of them.

Harris and Stevenson the only running backs I care about on this team.

The rest of the draft went DT, G, OL. a terrible draft for Bill, you didn’t address the needs to go up against the 3 other teams in our own division let alone the league. It’s going to be a very interesting 2022 for Patriots fans. Last year we were fighting for the division, now in my opinion I feel like we will be fighting to be better than .500. But now I ask, do you still stand by the “in Bill we trust”? Draft grade D+
