They finally listened. CFB is ruining the NFL

Well, toot toot. I’ve been saying it for years. The dim wits at the college football level have ruined the fun for everybody. Finally, Fox news is good for something other than impeccable non biased daily scoops on your Hunter Biden scandals.

I once wrote a blog about the golden era of Quarterbacks coming to and end. The premise was that we had 15-20 years of greatest quarterbacks of all time all playing in the same era. Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, etc. Of course the GOAT list will be debated, but there is no denying the Quarterbacks of the early 2000’s were playing are in the conversation. Outside of Mahomes you can not definitively say that about anyone else. Why?

Because college football runs offense built on superior physical abilities like they are all still in high school. And whatever, College gets away with it because the talent pool is so spread out. The money is outrageous its’ only growing. The NIL is expanding and spreading the talent even thinner. So guys like Josh Allen or Caleb Williams can sit in shot gun, let their coach read the defense, tell them where to throw, and when they inevitably fuck that up they run around for 17 seconds for some 69 yard unbelievable throw or scramble. Nice. That works, I guess but it’s not lighting the world on fire schematically and for sure not preparing these guys to come to the NFL where windows are smaller, defenses are faster, causing these QB’s to get even dumber. So, the coaches have no choice but to dumb it down to college speed. Next thing you know we’ll have Miley Cyrus signs on the sideline signaling the plays.

He had a guy open for the first down immediatly

People wonder why the NFL product feels like it has gotten worse. Scoring is the lowest it’s been in nearly a decade. Penalties chew up the viewing experience. Coaches garnish headlines with tight pants and spread sheets. This league has gotten soft and dumb. There is a lot of talk about the off season being diminished and pre season being a joke. All that is true. And it’s all in conjuncture with College football ruining the NFL. That and Money. But, that another rant for another day.

SOURCE “I think when you watch a Friday night high school football game, I think you’ll see the same offenses, a lot of the same plays on Saturday when you watch a major college game. And then when you watch football on Sunday, you’re seeing a lot of the same plays that you’re seeing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It all kind of looks the same," Gruden said.

Brady says more rookie quarterbacks start right away because the coaches are making it simpler.

"The reality is the only reason why [rookies] are [playing right away] is because we dumbed the game down, which has allowed them to play," Brady said during an appearance with Stephen A. Smith at Fanatics Fest in August.

You enable and entitle 22 year old millionaires they are going to take advantage. If you don’t challenge young people in new situations how are they supposed to learn and grow? Most importantly how are they supposed to beat a simple cover 2?

As a Patriots fan I am torn between my principles of rooting against these handsome rock heads and their elementary school offense and knowing the only chance the Patriots have a relevance in the next 5 years is letting Drake Maye run around like an asshole for 69 yards gains. nice.

College football is the worst.
