The Patriots made a trade and everyone took their pants off

Trent Brown is coming back to the Patriots after a failed stay in Oakland. Did you hear that kids? A failed stay. 16 games in 2 seasons after signing a 3 year $66 Million deal. He got dumped for a 5th and 7th round pick swap. John Gruden said they signed him to be the Lebron James of Right Tackles, oops.

“Very disappointing. We paid him to be the LeBron James of right tackles and he has had a lot of adversity,” head coach Jon Gruden said Friday, via Vic Tafur of TheAthletic.com

This morning the guys on the radio are talking about the Patriots now being all in on a “throwing” QB. Ian Rappaport reported that this deal has been in the works for weeks and no one reported it, so talk radio per usual is full of shit. Go figure.

It doesn’t even make sense. In 2018 the Patriots passing offense sucked. Brady sulked all year until they finally shifted to a run first offense and it kicked into gear. So what about Trent Brown getting discarded out of San Francisco, failing to dress in 1/2 the games for Oakland, and anchoring a bad passing offense screams Pants off Dance off to you?

It is a good move because we understand this kind of player is generally motivated in a contract year. We understand we saw him play well in New England in this situation just a couple seasons ago. We understand the talent it there and he is just 27. That’s all we understand. He could play RT, he could play LT. It could mean Marcus Cannon is out, it could not. It could mean his fat ass blows an Achilles week 1 of training camp.

A trade for Trent Brown has us dropping trough because it is the first relevant, pro active roster move the Patriots have made in over a year, not because he is a lock to protect the blind side of Jimmy Garrapolo, Zo.
