How Does Drake Maye’s first start compare to the rest of his class?

I believe the Patriots should have started Drake Maye in week 1 with a full ramp up period in the off season with all of the first team reps. My Cohort, Rich believes the Patriots did the right thing by waiting to start Maye and could have waited longer. If you look at the other rookie quarterbacks this year they have all made drastic improvements over the first six weeks while all actually playing. Drake Maye arguably outperformed all of them in his first start in week 6. My point is if they started him in week 1 he would be even further along. You learn by doing, not watching. I picked that tip up at your mom’s.

For comparison’s sake here are the numbers from the other rookies drafted in Drake’s class in their first start vs their week six start.

Maye's first start- 20/33 243 yards 3 TD 2 INT 38 yards rushing.

Caleb Williams

Week 1: 14/29 93 yards 0 TD 0 INT

Week 6: performance 23/29 226 yards 4 TD 1 INT

Jayden Daniels

Week 1: 17/24 183 yards 0 TD 0 INT, 88 yards rushing

Week 6: 23/34 289 yards 2 TD

Bo Nix

Week 1: 26/42 138 yards 2 INT

Week 6: 19/33 216 yards 2 TD 1 INT 61 yards rushing

Spencer Rattler

Week 6: 22/40 243 yards 1 TD 2 INT

NOTE: ( He melted down the Stretch) He's a pipsqueak and is the beginning of the end of the saints season.

You can clearly see the improvement just from the statistics. Their teams are also competing well and getting wins. They botched this plan with Maye from jump street.

Editor’s Note: These statists either prove nothing or they prove I’m right. We have no idea how Maye would have performed or responded to the craptastic Patriots offensive line to start the either. It was a consensus across the board of Professional football analysts that Maye would need the longest time to develop. The only thing that can’t be said for sure is Maye got worse by waiting to start. Even if the difference was marginal, Maye got better observing through training camp and the first six weeks of the season. I’m not trying to run the “Ruin your rookie QB 101” class for the second time in a row. Take it slow and give the kid a chance. This team blows.
