New Year, New Team

Welcome to January 1st, a time where everyone gets a fresh start, makes a list of things that need to change for a happier and better life. Bill Belichick is 70 and will be 71 come the start of the 2023 season. At one time, Bill said he never wanted to coach in to his 70’s. But because he hasn’t passed that piece of shit Don Shula yet he is still coaching. But what would be the fastest way to pass Shula and be able to retire as the winningest NFL coach of all time? Easy, a better team.

Where does that start, bringing back old faces. Lets get the obvious one out of the way. Bill O’Brien, a man with routes from New England, born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, former offensive coordinator here for the Patriots, a relationship with Bill Belichick, hiring him now since the Alabama season is over would be at the top of the list of things to get done in 2023. His resume speaks volumes one why you would want him here. He was around Brady when he got MVP honors in 2010, though not the official OC, he was without the title, kind of how it is now.

He then left the NFL to become the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions, a program that was in the national spotlight after the sex abuse scandals that was going on with Joe Pattern and assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky. In 2 years he had a 15-9 record with a sack of shit roster since everyone transferred out due to the scandal.

The biggest question mark that comes with Bill O’Brien is what he did in Houston. In 6 season Bill had a winning record, going 52-48 and winning the AFC South 4 times. But through the disfunction that was the Texans he also had a noticeable feud with his top wide out, DeAndre Hopkins, who was inevitably traded to the Arizona Cardinals. Bill lost the locker room and faith from the front office and finally let go and became the offensive coordinator at Alabama.

*If Belichick and the Krafts bring back Bill O’Brien would it be smart of them to say he will be the successor to Belichick when he retires? The Krafts are a thousand times better than what they have down in Houston, so the stuff that happened down there won’t happen here.

*If Mac Jones stays for another run can O’Brien fix him? I believe so, I think O’Brien is smart enough and has dealt with young players while being in Alabama to be able to see what works and doesn’t work with Mac and be able to come up with a scheme that he can elevate him to become a REAL, legit pro bowl player.

Obviously bringing back O’Brien won’t make this team a Super Bowl contender but it will make them a playoff contender, though being a wild card team until the Bills crumble, at least its playoff football where anything can happen. Also with another year winning year, we may become some sort of destination if you have a QB that can elevate receivers and tight ends, those players won’t mind signing here.

So it’s January 1st, 9:00 am Belichick and Kraft go get that first domino.
