Patrice Bergeron gives me the Vapors

Let’s forget about what happened last night against the Devils. I would like to focus on Friday night’s bout against the Capitals. The big news out of this game of course was the Tom Wilson hit on Brandon Carlo. The dirty bull shit hit from a dirty bull shit player that sent Carlo to the hospital and did not send Wilson to the penalty box.

Washington Capital's Tom Wilson hits Boston Bruins' Brandon Carlo on forecheck in the head against the glass, no penalties on the play. Carlo had to be helpe...

There is a lot that could be said here, but I want to focus on the Captain’s response. At the beginning of the 2nd period, Bergeron skated over to Wilson stretching right next to Ovechekin and gave Wilson the old “not mad, I’m disappointed”. There was no meat head over the top reaction from Bergeron. It was not contrived in the least, but you could see Bergy was bull shit over the hit. He the perfect amount of tact letting this shit bag know “you don’t get away with that against us. Be ready. Oh, and Ovi, get fucked, your boy is an asshole.” And politely skated away I’m sure hoping their families live long healthy lives as all polite Canadians do.

And then Bergeron lead his team to a dismantling of the best team in the division and heated rival to the tune of 5 -1. Including one of the sweetest goals I’ve ever seen and the “new guy” dropping the gloves with Wilson then getting a nod of approval from Captain oh my Captain.

Make no mistake about it. The way this team responded comes directly from their captain. Bergeron is playing with an additional edge this season that comes with the C on his sweater. It is so refreshing to see a professional athlete understanding his role as a leader and executing it with out any additional bullshit. Now go get this guy some help at the deadline. Let’s destroy public enemy #1, the Washington Capitals, on our way to a Cup. Do it for this dream boat.
