The NFL Sucks and Brady Knows it
"I think there's a lot of mediocrity in today's NFL. I don't see the excellence that I saw in the past," Brady said on the "The Stephen A. Smith Show" Monday. "I think the coaching isn't as good as it was," Brady said. "I don't think the development of young players is as good as it was.” - Tom Brady

Maybe it’s because the Patriots are worse than they have been in 2 generations or maybe not, but the NFL is harder to watch than it’s ever been. It’s an ugly product. There are 3 main reasons:
Player Safety
B,b,b,b,b,b,b,b bullshit. You can thank Will Smith and that Concussion movie for this limp dick version of the NFL we have now. In reality you can thank Will Smith and the cheap ass owners. They don’t give a shit about the safety of players they care about the medical bills from retired players. So, instead of shelling out some serious insurance benefits they have eliminated hitting and most of the exciting play potential across the league, specifically on defense. They won’t even let players return kicks. Just slap flags on them and let the girls try out.
College Football
The spread offense and bags of cash have cultivated a culture or morons in football. Superior athletes that should go shine on a track and field arena not a football field. Football for all of it’s violence and grit is a heady game. It’s 11 players all working succinctly towards a common goal. They have to execute as one with in split seconds as 300 lbs monsters look to take your head off. The NFL has turned into tiny track star pass catchers running wild and tiny track star QB scrambling like chicken with his head cut off making shit up or chucking 50 yards down the field getting a pass interference call.
Gambling
Fantasy Football and now proper gambling has swayed the decision in rule making and most importantly the calls on the field. Refs have always kind of stunk, but it’s so easy now to attach a bad call to an agenda it adds a layer of skepticism while viewing the sport. It takes away the purity of the game.
Honorable Mention
Replay. Replay has NOT helped sports. It could. If it was used correctly, but it has not fulfilled the goal to get calls right. There are too many nuances in a live game to get all calls correct. It will never happen. So start there. Change the goal. Clear and obvious mistakes should be changed from somebody watching the game off the field. It should take no more than 60 seconds. Instead we get game stoppages and delayed celebrations. You can’t get excited about a play with out looking for a flag and or waiting for the replay to confirm the catch or TD. Again, it takes away from the purity of the game. Part of that purity was the ref screwing your team. It still happens, but now we have to sit through 5 minutes of some blow hard looking at a monitor only to still get it all wrong and we have to ask how? Does he have money on the game? Who’s in his pocket?
I don’t see how the game can get back to the physicality it needs, but they can clean up the on field viewing experience with a couple tweaks. Just call Brady. If he can fix the Bucs, he can fix anything.
