Julian Edelman, Mr. Patriot

Today it was released that the Patriots were terminating Julian Edelman’s contract. That is all that came out. I used to think glass half full but with all the shit going on in the world, but I have become a glass half empty kind of guy over the years. First thing I thought when I saw this is well here we go, Jules is heading to Tampa to reunite with Tom and Gronk. Dig that knife in my fat, greased, clogged heart. But 5 minutes went by and Schefter reported that this is probably going to result in retirement because Edelman failed his physical. Still thinking the worst. Gronk retired because he had bleeding in his brain, but yet came back and played well and won a Super Bowl. But, then we were met with this.

Seeing this for the first time gave me chills. My eyes teared up. Hearing a guy say I just can’t do it anymore? Fucking sad. One of my all time favorite Patriots. He was 5’11. The smallest guy on the field playing in the slot where you just get hit over and over. He would just keep getting back up laughing at the monster that just pile drove him into the ground as if to say “you can’t hurt this brick shit house lil squirrel”. He played through the Super Bowl concussed because he’ is a mutha fuckin’ warrior! The heart and determination is un matched.

He will always be linked to Tom Brady, but in my opinion they made each other better. He was Brady’s safety blanket in the slot. It’s just going to be sad coming into 2021 knowing he won’t be in that locker room as a leader on the offensive side of the ball.
