John Henry is about to get hit where it hurts….hopefully

Ice berg dead ahead, the Boston Red Sox are the titanic and the 2023 is the ice berg. After staying a float for most of 2023 the Red Sox are about to sink. It’s not for lack of trying. This team stayed competitive for most of the season fighting for that last playoff spot which people tend to laugh at but last year the Phillies held that spot and went to the World Series. What made this team start to collapse is due to John Henry not wanting to spend and that nerd of a GM Chaim Bloom making zero moves at the deadline.

Alex Cora was very vocal about what this team has done and this may be his swan song as the season wraps up due to how vocal he has been of the GM. But is he wrong? Absolutely not. If you are given a pile of shit to work with and make a decent art project out of it and tell ownership you need better supplies to get to the post season then you can not blame the manager.

Since the Bloom era began we all said on this show that the one way ownership does anything is if they lose money by ticket sales and revenue and I think that’s on the way. After going to the Mets - Sox game a few weeks ago it was abundantly clear there were more Mets fabs than Red Sox fans. Again it was clear over the weekend with the Blue Jays as it seemed like Toronto south with all the Blue Jay fans in attendance. With the next 7 games against the dreads of the league in the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers that stadium could look empty and be a small kick in the ass for the ownership group knowing that this isn’t working and hurting the Red Sox image and John Henry’s wallet.

But I do pose the question what would be the final straw for John Henry to go back to his old ways and put together a winning baseball team?
