It’s a new day and a row of thin mint cookies short

My Friday morning was awful, a little banged up from the day before, no tp in the bathroom and then breaking news on my phone, Cam Newton resigns for a 1 year $14 million dollar deal with the New England Patriots. Last years resume was enough of an eye test knowing that this guy can’t play at a high level anymore. With a list of excuses from his fans from covid 19, a shortened training camp, no weapons, shoulder surgery blah blah blah we all can agree that last year he sucked, so when you hear $14 million you get a stomach pain that you can’t get rid of. But later in the afternoon the details of the contract came out. It is a base of $5 million with $2 million signing bonus, $1.5 million guaranteed and $1.5 million per game roster bonuses. The extra $9 million is incentives for playoff apperences, pro bowl selection, all pro selection, mvp of the league and super bowl mvp. Which if we paid Cam $14 million at seasons end that means he played at an MVP level season and won us the Super Bowl so ya, I hope he does make all his incentives, what Patriots fan wouldn’t?

This is my speculation and that is when Cam was brought in he was suppose to have a QB competition with Jarrett Stidham, from what we can all gather now is that Stidham is not good and in no way a competition for Cam and the starting job. With this base salary of $5 million the Patriots can still go after a Qb via trade, free agency or the draft. My personal opinion is come close to draft day the Patriots will make a move for Deshaun Watson or Jimmy G. and use that number 15th pick to do so. Bill after last years performance knows now that he can’t win the way he thought so he needs a guy behind center who can win him the game. Lets just hope I am right and come week 1 Cam isn’t the one doing it.
