Is Robert Kraft losing it?

Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick’s relationship reminds me a lot of Brady and Belichick’s, just a long 20 plus year relationship that the two respect each other but muttering the words hello irritates the shit out of one another. Both Bill and Robert want to win and become that team they were, winning playoff games and Super Bowls, but both are at the end of the back 9 of their careers. Bill is chasing Shula and Robert is no spring chicken, at 81 years old he could be shifting more day to day business activities to the eventual successor, his son Jonathan. But ever since Tom Brady left for Tampa, Robert has been saying more things to the media to take more of the blame off of himself.

Even at 81, Robert Kraft has friends much younger than him. Notably, Meek Mill, a 35 year old rapper who became friends with Kraft after Mill, Kraft, Jay Z, and Rick Rubin created the Reform Alliance, which aims to transform parole and probation guidelines in the United States. Kraft met Mill when he was in prison for violating his parole.

The friendship has now turned into recruitment. According to Robert Kraft himself, Meek Mill texted Kraft telling him that Lamar Jackson wants to be a Patriot. Now as an owner Robert Kraft could have sat on that information, or better yet go down and talk to Bill Belichick, you know the head coach of your franchise to see what his opinion of the matter is. But instead of that Kraft decided to throw that info out to the media and when they asked him his opinion on getting Lamar here he said, “That’s Bill’s decision.”

I interpret this as this, “Hey Patriots fans, Lamar wants to come here and I would go get him but that’s Bill’s decision, so when we don’t get him don’t be mad at me.” Throwing more shade at Bill, just like he did with the Brady exit. As Kraft stated he wanted Brady to retire a Patriot and did everything he could.

This team for the past 3 years now is as dysfunctional as my family, with finger pointing, its not my fault, and throwing stuff out to social media trying to paint the other person as the bad guy. Kraft just could have taken the high road, went to Bill and said he knows Lamar wants to be here. Now a fragile Mac Jones has to look behind him on the sideline because Bailey Zappe is competing for a starting spot according to Belichick and now Kraft is throwing out that a former MVP wants to play here. Kraft needs to stop talking to the media just like he stopped going to those rub and tugs because it’s ruining his image and bringing more stress to his franchise.
