If You Don’t Like The Diggs Signing, You’re Dumb
Holes, that’s what this New England Patriots roster has. Both sides of the ball leading up to the 2025 offseason. Everyone knew we needed to spend the money. Opening of the tampering period the Patriots spent, solidifying the defensive side of the ball, possibly making it a top 5 defense in the NFL this upcoming season. But still, we saw no help on the offensive and no weapons for 2nd year Quarterback, Drake Maye.
It’s not like the Patriots didn’t try….
Tee Higgins was the guy since the middle of the 2024 season that Patriots fans clambered for. He was the guy who was going to come here and it was going to be the Maye and Higgins connection….. nope he got franchised and signed a massive new deal to stay and play with a top 3 Quarterback, Joe Burrow.
After Higgins was off the board, Patriots fans moved to Chris Godwin. The front office agreed and offered Godwin $20 million more than what he resigned with the Buccaneers for, who have zero cap space after the Godwin signing.
Well if no one wants to sign here let’s trade for an elite receiver. DK Metcalf demanded a trade and wanted a new deal. The Patriots had the money to give him a rich new deal and so the Patriots made an offer to the Seahawks that Metcalf vetoed! He would rather go to the Pittsburgh Steelers and play with…. Looking up who the hell the QB is…..MASON RUDOLPH….. shocking.
Well, fine Cooper Kupp is available let’s make a trade for him. But when there’s no trade market for him he gets released and used the Patriots to drive his market up and get a $15 million dollar a year deal to go to Seattle to play with Sam Darnold…..
Nobody that plays wide receiver wanted to come here. The Patriots tried to trade, tried to over pay, they tried everything to get the 2nd year Quarterback help but nothing. But now there’s hope.
Stefon Diggs signs a 3 year $69 million (NICE!) deal with $26 million guaranteed to come to New England. The Simple Minds text exchange was filled with negativity from Bill and Rich, “He’s 31 and coming off a torn ACL, this is terrible.”
Oh, is it terrible? Would you rather Douglas and Boutte be your 1-2 punch to start the season? Or, a guy who is a 3 time pro bowler, a guy who can make catches against CB1’s, a guy who now is playing his former team twice in the division and who will be filled with spite and will help Drake Maye. If you fall on the same side with Rich and Bill And don’t like this, you too are dumb.
Diggs is a great signing and probably won’t be your WR1, but he will surely help the wide receiver room and on paper this Patriots team will be in the playoffs in 2025.
