Dr. BigMac’s Week 16 NFL Power Rankings
We are at the home stretch of the NFL season with just 3 weeks to go. Do we have a definitive top 10? Nope. That’s why the NFL is king over the other 4 major sports in America. Anything can happen on Sunday. Let’s dive in with my top 10 and some thirst traps!
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8-6 (Not Ranked)
Tampa Bay has been on and off this list all year, and that is exactly the type of team you do not want to play in the playoffs. You don’t know what team you’re going to get. Will it be a Baker Mayfield team where he throws for 400 yards and 4 tds or a Baker Mayfield team where he throws for 200 yards and 4 interceptions. Number 10 is the perfect spot for this team on my top 10.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers 10-4 (5th)
In the battle for supremacy in Pennsylvania, the Steelers came out the losers. On the road it wasn’t the Steelers best games. This biggest surprise of the year still has time to climb up the list again but it’s going to be tough as they play the Ravens, Chiefs, and Bengals to finish the season. If they can come out with 2 wins in the final 3 weeks they will prove they belong as a top team in the NFL.
8. Houston Texans 9-5 (9th)
What’s up brother! Climbing up 1 spot is the Texans. A team I was so high on this year has fizzled in the middle of the season. Injuries and mental mistakes have plagued this team and like the Steelers, they have a gauntlet to finish the season. The Chiefs, Ravens, and Titans are the final 3 for this team and like the Steelers, winning 2 out of 3 would be huge for this young team going in to the playoffs.
7. Denver Broncos 9-5 (8th)
Bo Knows! Winners of 4 straight the Broncos look to be heading in to wild card weekend with rookie QB Bo Nix. Sean Payton has put his rookie QB in situations that aren’t too big for Bo, something Patriots fans have yearned for all season with Drake Maye. Chargers, Bengals, and Chiefs are the last 3 games for the Broncos who could/should have 11 wins when the season finishes.
6. Green Bay Packers 10-4 (10th)
The little sister in a very stacked NFC North, the Green Bat Packers quietly have 10 wins already with 3 games to go. With all the talk about the Vikings and Lions the Packers could still win the NFC North. Saints, Vikings, Bears. If they win out they could possibly win the North.
🚨🚨🚨TOP 5🚨🚨🚨
5. Kansas City Chiefs 13-1 (5th)
Frauds, that’s what this team is. Cupcake schedule with help from some shady calls from the officials and that’s why the Chiefs have 1 loss. But this picture speaks volumes. Mahomes high ankle sprains, will he play or won’t he? With a first round bye on the line the Chiefs have to keep winning. Texans, Steelers, and Broncos. Here’s to the Chiefs going 0-3!
4. Detroit Lions 12-2 (1st)
In what could have been a Super Bowl preview, the Lions and Bills did not disappoint. Game of the year caliber game the Lions came up short and also got hit with the injury bug at the worst possible time. If you or anyone you know played at a high level of football on the defensive side of the ball, contact the Detroit Lions because they could definitely use you. That’s how bad they got beat up with injuries. Did Cinderella’s shoe finally fall off for this Lions team?
3. Buffalo Bills 11-3 (6th)
The NFL MVP will be Josh Allen. His last 4 games has the stamp of approval for this guy. Give him some cupcake games to finish the season (Patriots, Jets, Patriots) and hopefully a 1 seed rolling in to the playoffs and this team could/should be Super Bowl bound.
2. Minnesota Vikings 12-2 (3rd)
On paper this team is awful but in the record book they are 12-2. Shows just how important a coaching staff is to put a team like this in winning situations. Knowing what your defense is capable of and knowing how far to push Sam Darnold, if Kevin O’Connel doesn’t win coach of the year, there should be a police report out on the NFL for robbery.
1.Philadelphia Eagles 12-2 (2nd)
Fly Eagles, fly. The best team in football even with all the in-house fighting they are still winning. Will that last? God no, but they are a fun team to watch when everything is going good for them. They finish up with all 3 teams from the NFC East. 15 wins is easily on the table for this team.
