Pros, Cons, & Observations Week 8: We’re confused
Editor’s note: How the hell did the Patriots win that game? I watched from a vanish point of my daughter’s birthday party and assuming the Pats were going to get their asses blown off. So, excuse me for having a little bit of a foggy recollection of this performance. Credit where credit is due. A 70 yard game winning drive by BBH closing the drive with a 4th and goal power run TD. Even converted the 2 pt conversion. Then they didn’t even blow it with 22 seconds left. I think we owe a lot to the checked out douchebag that is Aaron Rodgers and the overall virus that is the New York Jets. Just sayin’. We’ll take the win.
PROS / CONS / OBSERVASTIONS from a Confusing Week 8 Win over the Jets
Pro- Still not as crappy as the Jets. The Patriots end the Jets season. The same Jets who went "all in" with a Davonte Adams trade and placating Hassan Reddick. Errors and Ineptitude take a win away from the Jets. Pats shows a little guile winning the game on a 70 yard TD drive. The Patriots played a relatively clean game with no turnovers. Were able to move the ball enough to win the game. Brissett played well in relief of Drake Maye.
Aaron Rodgers postgame quote. "I've been in the darkness. You have to make peace with it" What an overwhelming tool.
Observation- The Patriots responded to their coaches criticism. They didn't quit on the game at any point. Defense was better against the run and on 3rd down. Gave up 112 yards rushing, 4 per attempt, and forced the Jets to go 4-10 on 3rd down. Did enough to win the game. Still no pressure. Good enough in the kicking game. Offensively line seemed like a nonissue. 180 from first Jet's game.
How much credit goes to Mayo for the team's rebound performance?
Con- The WR's can't catch and Marcus Jones is a midget. Six drops in crucial spots. Balls put on them by Maye are dropped routinely. Bourne is useless thus far this season I think he has dropped everything thrown at him. Thornton and Boutte make amends on final drive at least with big catches.
Marcus Jones gets mossed twice by Garrett Wilson. Always close in coverage but not big enough to play as much as he does. Makes Ray look tall.
Con- Drake Maye leaves with Concussion from a helmet to helmet hit on a scramble. Prior to leaving he was effective again. Need him out on the field again if we want to stack these wins kid.
He's a blockhead normally so his baseline should be low enough to help him get out of the concussion protocol.
