The Red Sox are making a series of Moves before the season starts. Right?
The Red Sox told us before arbitration hearings that they would be “making a series of moves” before the start of Spring Training. Then we saw what seemed like every Free Agent sign else where. And not just the George Springers of the world signing for $25 million per year. Take for example a guy like Jose Quintana who signed with the Angels. A guy who the Sox have been rumored to for years. Signs for 1 year $8 Million. Corey Kluber goes to the Yankees on a 1 year $11 million deal. JA Happ signed, Kirby Yates signed, Musgrove is traded for. The point is the series of moves were happening for everyone but the Red Sox.
My prediction. They were taking a page of of the Bill Belichick QB assessment book and looking to pick the cheapest options left of the shit heap.
Well, then comes the Kike Hernandez Signing. Two years $14 million. Meh. Then Garrett Richards. 1 year $10 million. Okay fine. And now today we see them swing a deal with the Yankees of all people and bring in one of the leagues top relief men in Adam Ottavino. Ottavino is 1 year removed from a 1.90 ERA in 73 appearances. If anyone wants to put stock in the sham of a 2020 season feel free, but I’ll pass on the only type of season that could allow those blood money pukes in LA to finally get a World Series win. But, thats 3 moves. Is three a series? It is in baseball.
So, is this it for the series of moves? The Red Sox now boast the league’s deepest rotation of 3 & 4 starters but add a legit arm to the bullpen to go next to Barnes. I’ll take it. We did not and should not have expected fire works this off season. Chaim Bloom has a bit of a mess to clean up in the farm system and this team’s over all roster building was one Dave Dombroski multi billion dollar, no arm having, spineless, video game loving, dope pre madonna signing away from a full bucket of douche, 25 players 25 cabs kind of club.
I’m not saying this is 2013. Big Papi isn’t walking through the door Rallying “Our fucking City” To a world series, but it’s nice to see a couple pieces come through the door that should life the Sox off the doormat of the AL East.
