2021 the year the College playoff needs Change

Last nights National Championship game that saw Alabama destroy Ohio State 52-24 and had Nick Saban win his 7th national championship (most in college football history)should be the last time we see this 4 team format. Since the playoff began Alabama and Clemson have been in 6 out of 7, Ohio State and Oklahoma 4 out of 7, and for some reason Notre Dame 2 out of 7.

The thing that makes March Madness exciting and a ratings monster is that anyone can make it to the championship game. It’s not always the giants like Duke, Kentucky and the other power houses. I’m not saying college football needs a 64 team playoff, but an 8 team playoff would have more eyes and more compelling stories than just the obvious Alabama and Clemson year after year.
If they decided to do 8 teams Texas A & M, Oklahoma, Georgia and Cincinnati would have gotten in. The power 5 conference is a joke and will be until they fix this broke repetitive format. More games plus more eyes equals more money. Here’s to 2021 fixing some of the obvious sports problems we’ve been dealing with.
