30 for 30’s that I want to see

Little bit about me, my wife works a full time job and is in school. I mostly take care of the parental duties until bed time and then I put something on and binge watch. The last thing I binged was the OJ Made in America which was a special put out by ESPN and is one of their 30 for 30’s. A 5 part series that was over an hour long on each episode it deep dived from the beginning to end of OJ’s career and even showed how the Rodney King beating was a factor in the Jurys not guilty verdict. Stuff like that just fascinates me. On Hulu right now all of ESPN’s 30 for 30 are available so I went through and i’ve seen 90 percent of them, and yes some of them are worth more than one watch but it got me thinking. What should they do next? Here I have come up with my 30 for 30 that need to be made.

BELICHICK AND BRADY

Lets get the obvious one out of the way (fuck you bill and rich), as a Patriots fan who wouldn't want to see a first hand account of what happened behind closed doors and how these two who are arguably the Goats at what they do, have so much hate for one another. Patriots fans are split, you’re either Team Brady or Team Bill so to see how it all started from day 1 until the day he retired would be an incredible journey for NFL fans to navigate through. Where did it start going wrong, why did Kraft side with Bill, what was the final straw for Brady to take his talents to Tampa. This could be like The Last Dance and be a 10 part series and it would shatter ratings for ESPN.

THE PRACTICE FROM HELL

On December 4, 1997, the National Basketball Association (NBA) suspends Latrell Sprewell, three-time All Star point guard for the Golden State Warriors, for one year after he attacked Warriors’ coach P.J. Carlesimo. During practice on December 1, Sprewell had a verbal confrontation with Carlesimo when the coach told him to “put a little mustard” on a pass. When Carlesimo approached him, Sprewell grabbed the other man around the neck and began choking him, until he was pulled away by several other players and team officials. Told to leave practice, Sprewell returned within 20 minutes and threw a punch at Carlesimo before he was again pulled away. (bowienewsonline.com)

For the younger generation, the Golden State Warriors used to be the laughing stock of the NBA, they were never good and always had the pieces to be good but would just fail miserably. Latrell Sprewell was that one bright spot but something happened at practice one day and he just snapped and choked his coach, PJ Carlesimo for who knows what. This would be like the Malice in the Palace type episode, the team was all there they could tell you first hand accounts of what was really going on and where the boiling point was for Latrell or they could just tell you he was a psychopath and that would be interesting to hear as well.

URBAN MEYERS AND THE MEAN MACHINE

This is one that Bill really gave me the idea for. We have a lengthy text exchange and Bill likes to just throw shit out into the universe and dropped this nugget on us. 2008 Florida Gators won the National Championship, 121 players were on that team. 41 of them have been arrested. The one that sticks out the most is of course Aaron Hernandez, we all know he killed multiple people before killing himself in prison. This team had the Pouncey brothers who were no strangers of breaking the law, Cam Newton, Percy Harvin, Joe Haden, Brandon Spikes, and a whole lot more of NFL talent. How did this team go from National Champs to having 41 of them being arrested, and how did the NCAA not ever discipline Urban Meyers, even when he went to Ohio State the same stuff happened but not to this degree. This 2008 Gators team has a record that I don’t/hope will never be broken.

VINCENT KENEDY MCMAHON

The now 76 year old McMahon has changed the wrestling business starting back in the 80’s by closing the other wrestling territories around the country, making Hulk Hogan a house hold name, being able to market wrestling into pop culture and becoming a billionaire. But the man you see on screen, how different is he off screen? You really don’t hear to much about his personal life even though its all out there for people to see. His wife Linda got in to politics and was apart of Donald Trumps cabinet, his son Shane and Vince don’t have the best relationship it seems, being fired multiple times from your fathers company can make for awkward holiday meals. Lastly his daughter Stephanie and husband Triple H were being bread to be the heir apparent when Vince died only to have NXT taken away and them pushed out of the way. The true story of Vince would have every wrestling fan past and present intrigue to see who this genius really is.

107

The last one would be a comedy. The story of Wade Boggs drinking 107 beers on a cross country flight while playing in the MLB is legendary. There is already controversy over the matter while ex teammates say he has embellished, some say 50-60, some say 70 either way in a 5 or 6 hour flight to down that many beers is why documentaries were made. I want teammates, I want Boggs, I want the pilots and the stewardess that were on that flight and give their first hand accounts to what happened how he acted why they kept serving him and how the fuck did this man function and get off the plane. I said this would be a comedy, no I lied this would be a jaw dropping episode.

Too bad White Birch Brewing wasn’t around back when Wade Boggs took flight because he wouldn’t have needed 107 just a nice 4 pack of an IPA, Sour, Stout, Pilsner would have done the trick. Go check them out 460 Amherst St. Nashua NH
