19 More Wins

19 more wins separates Bill Belichick and Don Shula for the winningest coach all time in NFL history. For a team that doesn’t put up accolades other than Super Bowl wins is it really worth having Bill Belichick here? Is he the greatest coach of all time? Absolutely, for any coach to do what he has done in the salary cap era. Even if it was with Tom Brady for the better part of it. Bill Belichick could step away today and there would be no hesitation to say that he was the best to ever do it. But, is keeping him here to surpass Shula worth it?

It’s a new generation, kids are soft as shit and want a trophy for everything they do. Is Bill Belichick the guy to be here to motivate these kids anymore? I am not a fan of Mac Jones but he fits that criteria about kids that can’t get yelled at because they will break down. They need to hear all the time that, “You didn’t shit your pants today and only had 3 interceptions, GREAT JOB!”

Belichick reminds me of Walter Matthau’s character from Grumpy Old Men, just wakes up and hates the world and everything pisses him off and just hates the younger generation. See these kids dabbing and the TikTok dances and just looks to the sky and wonders what the hell is going on.

Every single coach has gone through this. Don Shula, Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Tom Landry, and Chuck Noll. They were all greats of their generation with multiple Super Bowl wins. But, over a period of time the method doesn’t work anymore and the system that was instilled and worked for so many years just doesn’t work with the next generation of kids. Mac Jones can not be treated like Tom Brady was. Tom strived on the aspect that Bill didn’t treat him like a god and didn’t put Tom on a pedestal. Tom was always looking for the respect from Bill that the rest of New England always gave him. While now, Mac wants the respect even though he hasn’t earned it yet. It’s just how this generation is.

The promotion of Jerod Mayo to Assistant Head Coach is a sign that Bill has lost his curve with today’s player. Maybe Robert Kraft should take a page from Bill and let someone go a year early instead of a year late, seeing him here for 2-3 more years will hurt this franchise and the players here more for a record that isn’t relevant then letting him go after another subpar year to get the rebuild going and letting him get the all time record some where else.
