Simplest Minds of the Week
Welcome
Kraft quite Bill
Tom Curran of NBC Sports Boston, via Hayden Bird of Boston.com, said Monday that Kraft already made the decision to make a change after New England’s Week 10 loss to the Colts in Frankfurt.
“When they came out of Germany, conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision was made,” Curran said. “They were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year, there would be a parting of the ways for a variety of reasons.”
“Just because they won last week in Pittsburgh in primetime, I don’t think it quells anything,” Curran said.
That one win might not change things, but more wins could — in theory. Any decision is subject to change before implementation. If the Patriots win their final four games (Chiefs, at Broncos, at Bills, Jets), that could potentially spark a reversal. Even a 3-1 record down the stretch might prompt Kraft to continue a relationship that he recently cited, unprompted, when explaining on ESPN’s College GameDay the importance of employment longevity within his various business concerns.
Who Leaked it?
- Kraft? Give up the leverage, embarrass Bill, put pressure on Bill? get ahead of it?, embrace the tank. steal a headline?
Bill? - Leverage, leverage, leverage. Deny, Deny Accuse.
What kind of affects could it have on the remainder of the season?
Two out comes - Zappe leads them to 3-1 and Brings Bill back
The team implodes even more and Bill is forced out even earlier.
Jerod Mayo named as most likely successor
ESPN's Dan Graziano reported Wednesday, citing "multiple sources in and around the building," that Mayo "taking over next year is the most likely outcome, though others are no longer certain that's the way (owner Robert) Kraft will go."
- I think they have to win a couple games down the stretch for this not to open the door to a complete rehaul of the coaching staff
HEADLINES with The OBVIOUS ONE
Ohtani, Oh My
Shohei Ohtani made history this week with a 10-year, $700 million contract to play for Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers. The deal’s unique payout structure, however, could carry some risks, financial experts say.
The Japanese superstar will receive $2 million per year over the 10-year agreement, which defers $68 million annually.
Ohtani isn’t the first MLB player to defer income. Players such as Bobby Bonilla and Ken Griffey Jr. also chose yearly payments. In Bonilla’s case, those came with a guaranteed 8% interest rate. But Ohtani will receive the bulk of his contract, $680 million in payments, between 2034 and 2043, without interest.
What the Actual Fuck is this?!?!
Ohtani's move to the Dodgers will have about a 64.3 billlion yen ($437 million) economic impact next year,
I dont blame the Dodgers. I dont blame Ohtani. I blame baseball.
- Fix your off season. Fix your salary cap/luxury tax.
* Dumbass deal for everybody
- Player isn't worth it on the field, but dodgers will be fine financially. probably make money
- Ohtani loses a ton in lost investments and inflation over a decade. will have ot think of the tax implications.
Just so what? The Dodgers save some money? or he doesnt have to move? #2 million a year?
- MLB looks ridiculous. $700 million dollar fake contract.

BOTPOD’s landing spots for Bill Belichick
-if all the reports are true and Bill is in fact leaving the patriots at seasons end I am going to give you 3 teams to keep an eye on and why they make sense for the 71 (72 in April) year old head coach.
-location location location. I’m 38 and never want to go through the process of moving. Sure Belichick has more money than I do but still do you really want to up and move in your 70s?
-winning factor. How many more years do you want to chase Shula? You’re in win now mode and the next stop has to be with a contender. A team that has that blue print but just needs a culture shock. 15 wins as of this week away from the record. Could get it done in a year especially with my 3 teams.
Spite: it’s the most exhilarating drug in the world. Your boss fires you and now you can play your former team and show them that it was him not you that fucked up.
New York Jets. 24 years ago he was set to go and be the head coach but left for what has been a GOAT resume with the Patriots. Why the Jets?
Location: 4 hours down the road. Can still live on Nantucket and it’s a familiar place.
Win now: the jets with all their internal problems are still a great defensive team and with Aaron Rodgers coming back, this team could be destined for a deep playoff run in 2024.
Spite: you get to play the patriots twice a year.
Buffalo Bills: Sean McDermott has lost that locker room and we have stated on this program that they will never win a Super Bowl with Josh Allen and Sean McDermott.
Location: let’s be honest Buffalo is miserable. Who would ever want to live there so the Bills are one of those destinations that attracts people but what they do need is someone to help sell those tickets to the new stadium.
Win now: Bills have the talent on both sides of the ball where you could be Super Bowl favorites with Bill moving there and 16 wins in one season including the playoffs aren’t out of the picture.
Spite: play the patriots twice and win a Super Bowl once again tot throw sand in Krafts face. This one I’ve been saying for a while now that it would make sense.
Kansas City Chiefs: look at Andy Reid. That guy could die on the sidelines at any moment this is my dark horse and all depends on Andy Reid’s health and if he wins again this year. If this happens it would be the biggest black eye for Kraft.
Location: Kansas City is worse than Buffalo. That place blows. The city of fountains is dumb and the only way you would go coach in that shit hole is Patrick Mahomes.
Win now: they are there every year of course you would pass Shula in a year.
Spite: Lombardi trophy 2024
