Merrill Hodge: "Drake Maye is the guy that will get you fired"
JJ McCarthy is Ok.
He hates everyone and I love him for it.
JJ McCarthy continues to climb. Washington now rumored in on him at #2
Leaving the door open for Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, or JJ McCarthy at 3 for the Patriots
Most likely boiling down to Maye and McCarthy. Floor vs. Ceiling.
I hate this. It sucks to suck
People forget Brissett is the qb next year. The QB is important but not everything like they are being treated. Trade out.
As for the possibility of trading down for a haul of assets, Schefter doesn't currently see a scenario in which that happens.
"A lot of people are talking about New England moving out of that spot. I don’t know about that," Schefter added. "I’m not gonna tell you then won’t, of course they would for the right offer, but I think it’s gonna be challenging. I think for New England to trade out of that spot today, two weeks out, it's unlikely to happen. Because they're going to have to move back into a spot where they would lose out on the quarterback that they'd want, and there's going to have to be a team that has to give up a lot to get up to number three. ...
"So I think the first three teams stay where they are in all probability, and I think in all probability it goes Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, New England’s choice of QBs.”
Saw a mock draft trade out situation:
trade 3 for 11, 23, 2024 3rd, 2025 1st
Trade back up to 8 with Atlanta using 11 and 3rd round pick: Take Odunze
At 23 take Washington huskie OL Troy Fautanu
Trade back up to 1st round from 34 to 31 using a 5th/6th combo take Pennix JR
MAYO:
"Remember, (Texans general manager Nick) Caserio had been building that team for (two) years before they got C.J. Stroud in that position," Mayo recently told ESPN's Mike Reiss. "So when you look at our team, I'm not asking for patience, but I kind of am. It's a process. It's not only about the quarterback. Obviously, you want to have that QB1 and build around him, but it doesn't always happen when you want it.".
"We could bring a QB in here, and he may not be ready to play, realistically," Mayo added. "That's why we have a guy like Jacoby coming along. Jacoby is great. He can still play football and also mentor someone in that room, and he has a connection to that offense with (offensive coordinator Alex) Van Pelt, so he can always be that teacher. That's how we're looking at it."
In the boring alternative world an option at #34:
ESPN's Jordan Reid shared some interesting intel Thursday on one offensive tackle prospect the Patriots could target in the second round.
"If the Pats do go QB in the first round, I'd keep an eye on BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia at No. 34," Reid wrote. "The team has done a lot of homework on him."
The 2024 offensive tackle class is very deep, which means a talented player like Suamataia could be available at No. 34. The 21-year-old Utah native began his college career at Oregon before transferring in 2022 to BYU, where he started 22 games over the next two seasons.
At 6-foot-5, 326 pounds, Suamataia is slightly undersized for an offensive tackle but possesses elite athleticism with a 1.73-second 10-yard split and 9-foot-2 broad jump and made Phil Perry's list of "Prototypical Patriots" offensive tackles who could appeal to de facto general manager Eliot Wolf.
"For a Patriots team that could be emphasizing zone running, getting a player like Suamataia with those kinds of in-space movement skills, he could be a tremendous fit," Perry wrote.

HENRY:
Henry told reporters on Tuesday that he was happy to be back with the team and looking forward to building on what he's already established.
"I love this locker room, I love this area, I love this fan base, I love this organization," said Henry, "Things are different for sure, they already are in the building. There are some things we can carry over, and some things we need to change. Obviously, there was a lot of success here and we want to be a part of the next success."
PEPPERS:
"This is where you build that foundation for the season, I was anxious to get back," said Peppers. "We're just in here knocking the dust off, getting to know each other, getting to know the strength and conditioning program."
Peppers was vocal about his support for new defensive coordinator Demarcus Covington, who served as the team's defensive line coach for the last three seasons. Peppers said Covington played a key role in his development with the Patriots, something the safety was eager to build upon.
"DC had a huge role on defense last year," said Peppers. "He's a knowledgeable guy, knows the defense inside and out. He spoke about his journey today, there's a lot of things I didn't even know. I'm excited for him. He was very instrumental to my time here, so I'm happy he got the chance, I'm happy I get to play for him and keep building on this thing."

The Celtics had their winning streak snapped by a desperate Bucks team 104 - 91 but dont worry because Joe Mazzula feels holistically full and plans not to change a single thing in preparation for the playoffs.
The Red Sox prove yet again that West Coast sports are meaningless as they get curb stomped on and off the diamond in their return home. Trevor Story out for the season, a couple non competitive games, and Tito Franconia spits their eye just a couple headlines from the past week.
The Bruins play hockey, but not for long as they are all but assured to take on the Lighting and round one and soil their sweaters yet again
Free Ohtani! A federal investigation has found Shohei Ohtani innocent of any wrong doing in the multi million dollar illegal gambling scheme. His interpreter, best friend, and fall guy Ippe Mizuhara is scheduled to plead guilty to federal charges of theft and fraud. He faces a butt load of prison time and will see none of it.

In the 21 years since the luxury tax was created, it has been applicable in 19 seasons; in those 19 seasons, 28 NBA franchises have paid over $2.1 billion in payroll excess. Here is how much each franchise has paid in that span, and in how many different seasons they have paid it.
Celtics 12th - 8 seasons $50.6 million

- Celtics looked slow. Gave it an effort but couldn't overcome the deficit.
Worried about Mazzulas approach.
"I wouldn't want it any other way," Mazzulla told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Zolak & Bertrand during an in-studio interview Wednesday, as seen in the video above.
"I could never imagine having a job where I wouldn't wake up and want to be the absolute best at it. So, whatever happens this season, you have to wake up the next day and start getting ready for the next thing.
"Yeah, there's pressure. I put it on myself every single day to be the best coach, to win, to be the best husband, to be the best father. Pressure is looked at as something that's like a negative, but in reality, it's just something that's there, and why wouldn't you want that?"
"There's pressure, there's expectations, but that will never go away," Mazzulla added. "Like, it's always gonna be there. And that's been the coolest moment about this job, is finding the freedom and the peace and the love and the joy of that pressure.
"I feel like our guys this year, regardless of what's gonna happen, they feel they have that freedom, that peace, that joy towards going after something that you love."
YUCK - Take your holistic attitude and shove it
Does Tatum feel like he died when he loses? No.
They want to win. They expect to win on talent. If they don't it's okay, because I would argue there is probably more to give from an intangible stand point. - Most people can't tap into that. The greats do and can't turn it off.

Rashee Rice:
Police issued an arrest warrant for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice for his alleged role in a multi-car accident in Dallas late last month, according to WFAA.
Rice’s attorney confirmed he was driving a Lamborghini that was seen allegedly racing a Corvette on a Dallas-area highway late last month. The two drivers lost control of their vehicles, and the Lamborghini went onto the shoulder, hit the center median wall and caused a collision with several other vehicles.
Drugs, a Kansas City Chiefs playbook and a check for $16,500 were among the items recovered from the scene of a multi-vehicle crash involving Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice on a Dallas highway last weekend, police records show. Dallas TV station WFAA reported that 10.8 grams of marijuana were found in the Lamborghini Rice had been driving.
