What Would Tommy Say

Last night’s Celtics game against the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers was the latest edition of slap stick garbage ball from the boys in green. And that’s what they are, boys. At least that’s how they have acted. Entitled little boys. No one is laying out wins for you on a sliver platter just for walking into the stadium.

You’re not Lebron. The idea of coasting through quarters, or games, or seasons to then turn on the proverbial switch is not at your disposal. Yes, I am talking mostly about the J’s here because this is their team now. This is what they wanted. The franchise was handed over to a 23 and 24 year old this season with zero veteran help on the bench. These are the results.

That zero help on the bench part is important. You know that’s what Jaylen and Jayson are thinking.

“You want me to pass the ball to who on the drive and dish? Grant Williams?”

“I’m relying on who for rim protection off a pick? Daniel Thies?”

Regardless, that is no excuse for giving zero fucks on the court. That’s what losers do. That’s what losing teams and losing franchises do. You don’t think you have a chance to win so you go through the motions and slap it out there. They were outscored 55 - 38 in the 1st half last night and gave up 35 points in the 4th quarter to a team who just acted and played like they wanted it more.

Think about it. These kids literally don’t know what it feels like to be on a bad team. They have been heavily recruited since high school. High success at the lower levels and the second they got to the NBA they were in the ECF and heralded as Super Stars. You don’t generally see that in the NBA. Usually the top picks have to struggle with a shitty team for a few years before forcing their way out of town to play with Lebron. So, essentially that’s what we are seeing. We are seeing two young promising players trying to lead a mediocre team only they have the added pressure of skewed expectations due to the success of years prior.

That is still no excuse for acting like entitled millennial babies every other night. I still believe they can figure it out and I’m sure Tommy would think so to, but boy would he be disappointed in this team. Shit, we heard it from Mike Gorman earlier this year echoing the great late Heinsohn in his remarks, spot on remarks I might add, he had about the J’s before the trade deadline.

Tommy’s not mad boys. He’s just disappointed.
