The road to the Super Bowl goes through Foxboro

With the loss to the Colts on Saturday the Patriots drop to 2nd place in the AFC. Unlike in years past that will not grant them a bye week. Just like in years past it also does not guarantee them home field advantage through out the playoffs. But, don’t fret. That’s all about to change.

The reason I say that is two fold.

  1. A good ass kicking like they got against the Colts generally puts the better Belichick teams on a trajectory towards championships. I believe this to be a good Patriots team. I think the offense has potential and the defense is better than good enough to lead the team. Now, I’m not saying they are destine to win the whole thing persay, but with a little help they should have the best odds in a few short weeks. Which brings me to my second point.

  2. The Chiefs schedule is brutal down the stretch. They face the stingy Steelers this weekend. If we are being honest with ourselves that should be a win for Mahomes and the boys. However, that KC offense has struggled this year and the Steelers flaunt a stout defense with the defensive player in the year in T.J. Watt leading the charge. After that KC is on the road for two weeks. The first match up is against the AFC North leading Bengals. Tell me Joe Burrow can’t pull up an upset at home? They finish the season in Denver which still proves to be one of the hardest places in the NFL to come away with a win. The Broncos have been a thorn in everybody’s side this year especially if they can get a somewhat healthy Bridgwater back to play spoiler.

The one flaw in this plan is god damn Miami. I am as low on Miami as a franchise as anyone every single year. And toot toot, they constantly prove me right. However, they generally come up with a pain in the ass win over the Pats. I’m going to say that came in week 1 not week 18.

So, there you have it folks. With one KC loss and the Pats handling their own down the stretch, the Super Bowl goes through Foxboro. The Pat’s biggest test is this weekend against the Bills who will be looking for revenge, but also riddled with Covid and injuries. The Bills have been inconsistent all season and this Pats team should have a hair across their ass after that embarrassment in Indy.
