The Red Sox beat COVID
Last night’s lost not with standing the Red sox have looked alive recently. Funny, considering over 13 members have been placed on the Covid IL in a short time. This may have been the real shot in the arm this team needed.
"It's gut-wrenching," Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom said Wednesday when asked about the team's cases. "How else can you react? Every single one has been."
Guys like Jonathan Aruiz are out here slapping big home runs in multiple games. Who the fuck is Jonathan Aruiz?! Taylor Motter looks like a rejected member of Motley Crue out there. And Motley Crue now. Fat and old not young, sexy, and absolutely, positively insane.
But it’s working. For the most part. A 4 game win streak was something most people who follow the Red Sox didn’t think we would see again this year. To do it against the division leader with a bunch of Woo Sox out there was a different story. Again, maybe this is the shot in the arm they needed.
We know now definitifly that Bloom and Red Sox management under performed at the trade deadline. They did not get the proper help this team needed. This decision was reflected in the play of the roster the weeks following. The play was so bad and uninspiring it cost the team 10 games in the standings in under a month. At some point as a professional you have to buck up and come to play. It just did not feel like the core of this team had that in them this year. Even with Sale and Schwarber entering the line up it felt like they were all going through the motions. Treading water. Which honestly still probably would have been enough to make the play in game based on how the A’s have shit their pants and the Yankees coming back to earth. Toot toot. Called it.
Dare I say now, the Sox are back in a position to make some noise in the playoffs? You are right on the heels of the Yankees for a home Play in Game with 6 games vs the Orioles and 3 head to head against NYY in the remaining 25. Give me Chris Sale vs. Garrett Cole at Fenway in a win or go home game all day long. Now look at the rest of the competition if Sale and company pull it off.
Astros 79- 57, White Sox 79 - 58 , Rays 86 - 51, Mariners 75-62. A's 74 - 63. The AL Blows! The Red Sox would leading the other divisions.
If the spirit from this group of COVID Goonies can spill onto the Big Dawgs in JD and Bogearts, we’ve already seen Verdugo lift his game with a walk off and Devers heating up again. Bring Renfroe, Schwarber and Kike along for the ride, pray the bullpen is half decent and we may have some playoff baseball in Boston.

P.S. Also thanks to the anti vax chaps on the Sox keeping them under the threshold. With out it, MLB postpones the game and we probably keep treading water until the Yanks smash our faces in again.
